Rumour has it, Kurtz's motivation for Dragonette's aesthetic had to do with his experience producing Sarah Slean's most recent record. Apparently, one reason Slean's album took so long to drop was that the folks at Warner kept sending it back. They wanted a poppier, more radio-friendly sound. Kurtz, pissed off by the back-and-forthing, decided his next project would be the biggest, glossiest mega-pop Fuck You he could muster.

Kurtz laughs hysterically when he hears my version of events.

Just some clearification, the passing of the album back and fourth with the lable is just an interpretation the interviewer presented. There might be no fact to that.

As a result, Dragonette, featuring Martina Sorbara, is kinda like techno dance pop (I'm bad with music labelling) and I'm not a huge fan of it. They seem to be doing well on the tour scene tho.

Well Dan is from The New Deal which is labled under many different hats of dance music.

im listening to the samples and they seem to be more the route of Kylie's way of dance music. i have to hear more.

Anyone know where to order or purchase their CD other than through their website? Despite the fact that she's Canadian, Canada is considered "International" for shipping purposes... and the $8 EP costs $7.36 to ship internationally... wtf?

I'm listening to Mix FM right now and they're playing I Get Around, it's featured as "new music." I loved this song when you all posted about it the first time, and I'm SO glad it's finally getting some airplay. Here's hoping it leads to some more!
