I was just reading Le Petit Prince in French class and noticed (what I think are) some parallels to the lyrics in Day One. It first struck me with "Beauty faked a heart attack / But now I feel it coming back" Do you think she was comparing her whole experience to the story? Any thoughts?

I haven't read the book, but I think this is a very legit theory. I actually meant to order it last night, it's on sale on chapters.indigo.ca

Well I don't think she purposely did any of that.. but there are parallels. If I do so remember, that book was one of her favourites?

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `

Well I thought these lines had sort of the same ideas about the "grandes personnes"

Pushing paper ain't enough
I bet you think that youre so tough
But all your green wont mean a thing at all

and then there's the "bus boys and bankers" which sort of reminded me of the businessman and the train station guy. Haha I'm probably seeing too much into this but it's fun anyways!

I just read it again myself a few weeks ago.

Oi... I always cry at the end. What a precious book! My favorite part is when he meets the fox (I still have the book in my bag actually):

[quote:dc43e67f49]"What does `tame mean?"

"It is something which is too often forgotten," said the fox. "It means to establish ties..."

"To establish ties?"

"Thats right," said the fox. "To me, you are still just a little boy like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you have no need of me, either. To you, I am just a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, we shall need one another. To me, you will be unique. And I shall be unique to you."

"Im beginning to understand," said the little prince. "There is a flower... I think she has tamed me..."[/quote:dc43e67f49]

As for its relation to Day One? When I was reading it a few weeks ago that thought didnt cross my mind, but I definitely see paralells with the businessman (counting stars that will never belong to him) and the king (always needing something to rule over).

Interesting comparison!!

And yes... it is one of sarahs favorite books. She even listed it as one of her most prized possessions.
