am i one of the few people who has been listening to Slean for a long time and STILL COMPLETELY ADORES day one?? i know i met one longtime fan at the Danforth show when she opened for Ron that liked it LOL .....

Four months on, and Day One is my favourite track from the album.

My question remains...does anyone know if a video is coming?

I've been a fan since 99' and think DAY ONE is fantabulous!

Jareed, I love Day One, it's one of my favourites

alot of people on Navy Soup who've been fans since Universe (even pre Universe) or even Blue Parade are not happy with the production on the album (myself excluded, I think her progression through the years have been in leaps and bounds and are still very true to what 'Sarah Slean' means to me)

but I'm really glad you guys love it cause I have no one to talk about Sarah Slean with! my friends are all borderline friends and that's only cause I push so relentlessly!!

I'd have to disagree. I've been a fan since Blue Parade (I started being a fan, as [i:d76d738257]young[/i:d76d738257] girl) and have to say that this album is indeed a great piece of work. I think people are trying to peg sarah too much, with this album. The reason why we loved her was because of her musical courage and complexity. We know Sarah is magical with her piano, and her words. Now we know Sarah can master the art of an edgier sound. I think this album was true Sarah Slean to the bone -- an act of courage.

I too have been a long time fan... Since Universe. But it doesn't really matter. It's not a contest of who's been around the longest.

Personally, I don't like Day One as much as I liked Nightbugs and I didn't like Nightbugs as much as I like Blue Parade.

Is it correlated with how long I have been a fan...? maybe. I think that it more has to do with the fact that those of us who are long time fans and prefer Blue Parade are the type of people who prefer that kind of music anyway.

I can't imagine you'll find much mainstream pop in the album collections of any of the long time navy soupers. We aren't that type. But because we have been around so long, we have a certain reverence for Sarah and can recognize that she makes good music, whether or not it is of our preference. Whether or not it leans toward mainstream pop. That is why we are [i:ebc6755fae]still[/i:ebc6755fae] fans.

But perhaps too... that is why navy soup is dying. The long-time soupers didn't get excited about this album so they didn't talk about it... (there was a bit of a buzz when Tab gave a mediocre review of Day One, but really... not much since).

I will be brutally honest. I think I have played the full Day One album less than 20 times. Doesn't mean I don't like it, it just means that I prefer the kind of music she produced on Blue Parade.

Nik, that was a very nice way of putting it. I understand completely why some fans from way back are having a harder time liking her new material. For me, Day One is another chapter in the book of many and I'm ready and willing to go through them all
