I can't decide!!

I love all of When Another Midnight but my favourite part is this:

Its shock, its horror, its despair!
Its Socrates weeping in a wheelchair
Teacher drooling, unaware
"Where are my students where, oh where?"

And in Mary, I love this part:

Ive got all the courage
Ill ever need
I wax poetic on my enemies

"I don't need you to buy me dinner. I just need you to love me."

Just about sums up everything I love about Sarah's music and ideas.

Personal is political my friend. So, yes I believe so. In that sense.

it is pretty difficult to nail them all because different lines speak to different moods or periods in my life... but here goes:

"love me for stupid reasons, I like those most"[/color:27cca641e3]

"can I have a picture of your calm face?
You can have the space behind my eyes"[/color:27cca641e3]

"Little bones, will you break these legs like twigs now?
There's pain here you'll never have to feel"[/color:27cca641e3]

"A plate of stars could never take the place of the
Boy who swore to catch me As I run through the rye"[/color:27cca641e3]

"Sweet is the certified nervous wreck
Who now and then likes to appear
To lecture the night and the empty space
And sleep in the cradle of my ear"[/color:27cca641e3]

"So beauty came with agony
But sweet
Oh every love is sweet"[/color:27cca641e3]

"There's good love out there
just you wait"[/color:27cca641e3]

"I am full of love and consequence
Merciful the sky of coal" (and all the rest of vertigo)[/color:27cca641e3]

Last Year's War is a lyrical gem all to itself, I can't even pull out a favourite line because they all depend upon each other.[/color:27cca641e3]

"A grey light in an English room
My head so full of missing you"[/color:27cca641e3]

yeah, it's a long list, but I am a lyrical person. I fell in love with Sarah's lyrics long before I ever heard her songs!

So true Nik...

Its like trying to pick a single painting as your favourite after spending the day at Muse du Louvre.

Having said that, I'd have to go with;

"Love me for stupid reasons, I like those most..."

Oh, btw..where can I find "Last Year's War"??

Its not on any of the four CD's I have.

Hmmm...thought I'd completed my Sarah collection, it would seem not.

Man, I've got at least one from each song.
"If the ancient wisdom came in bottles / I would tell my terror where to go"
"But the game is for the adults and I don't know how to play"
"When the jar's all out of candy don't come blaming me"
"I've got all the courage / I'll ever need / I wax poetic on my enemies"
"I know better, still I wish I was by your side"
"Be still my lionheart! A revolution ready to pounce"
"Your revolution is chasing its tail"
from Vertigo, I just like the idea of "Terrible calm"
"Poet to poet, nun to nun / I've met a distance that I have to run / No matter what madness must come undone / I'm throwing down a smoking gun"
"This time / The pleasure's all mine / I've got your number / I know the score"
"In my mind-storm I did carry you"
"Wake Up / Wake Up / You don't want to sleep through this"

...is that too many?

As far as I know, it's only a song that's been performed live. Nik's site is pretty good when it comes to locating where songs are from.
Send me an e-mail, I'll see what I can do about finding somewhere to ... umm... find it.

Acks! Could you send that to me as well? I have never heard it before, but the lyrics ------ amazing.

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `
