Weve had a few threads about favourite songs, favourite lyrics, etc, etc, so I thought Id add a little something.

As I was driving home today, my Night Bugs CD blasting away, it struck me that part of what I love about our dear Sarah is the never ending stream of musical twists and turns, lyrical flights of fancy and delicious vocal phrasings.

Theres definitely no shortage of these favourites, but heres a few little Sleanster tidbits that never fail to delight me;

1. The pounding piano finish in the final few bars of Sweet Ones absolutely rattles my bones.
2. The oh oh oh oh, uh uh uh uh during the bridge of Bank Accounts the fact that she is obviously having such a blast performing shines right through.
3. Her phrasing of Business is business in the fourth verse of Bank Accounts and again with Oh, the pleasure is all mine during the final chorus of The Score- she just nails the emotion behind the words so well.
4. And of course, the child-like glee with which she finishes off Lucky Mes la la, la la, la la, la la la, la, la

Barely four weeks since I first heard her voice on CBC and the honeymoon is still raging!

How about the ending of 'The Score'? That's a crazy ending but I love it!

"And now I think I'll get through..."

I love the part in When Another Midnight when she sings "Come out come out! It's not the end of the world!" - Gives me shivers!

http://www.cdbaby.com/all/kristilyn <-- these are my CDs. Smiler "This music is in the vein of Terami Hirsch (without the electrics), Sarah Slean (without the drunk-ish vocals) and perhaps, Tori Amos (without the nuts)." Amy Lotsberg, Collected Sounds.

In Vertigo I think it is, the faint sounds of creaking, almost sounds like weight shifting on a piano bench...I love it.

Oh man, this is a great thread! I have so many little "moments" that make me shiver and quake.

- in the "High" video when she stops and plays "air piano" with her hands. It sends shivers.. and I have no idea. I just love that part
- Blue Parade "katie caaaaalls" I just love how her voice goes up just slightly and breaks.
- OH Man "oh geeeze". It's so cute.. for some reason it just makes me smile
- The little bass run down on "Angel" within the first 33 seconds.. the whole "dudddddddduuuuuuuuun". If that makes any sense?
- Drastic Measures "viaducts. of the last flame of the universe" I love the whole climb. I adore it to pieces!
- Out in The Park .. her backup "ahhhhh" in the chorus.
- The Score .. the tiny little tinkle of the piano at the end, before the big "dun dun".
- Vertigo.. the metronome

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `
