Chuckles, i do agree with you about "mary" sounding like a hawksley song. i find alot of sarah's music very reminiscent of hawksley, but i also find aspects of sarah in hawksleys music as well....
i guess they rubbed off on each other, in collaborating on some projects...and i find them to be very similar to start off with...i guess its why they work so well together, in my opinion.

Hey..I don't know how to quote someone else, but I wanna reply to the guy who said 'Somebody's Arms' may destroy her image if it got on the radio... Yeah, I guess it could happen - people might want all future singles from her to have that same 'feel' and be less open to her other style...although really, I don't think it matters. They're all great songs and they're all 'her' because they're real & honest.

[quote:c84019871c="johnathan"]I'd put money on Day One as the next xingle. Thats if I gambled of course. I can't picture anything else even being a radio single except possible Out in the Park.[/quote:c84019871c]

How about "Mary"? It's a very straightforward song. It could work. "Out In The Park" could work, but I hate to say it - I don't even think radio is adventurous enough to go with that one. Radio sucks. It could be SO good, but it isn't.

[quote:f00096ffd4="Chuckles"]is it just me, or does "Mary" remind me of something Hawksley Workman would sing?[/quote:f00096ffd4]

Yep. But who cares - man, I love Hawksley's last album (actually, "Mary" would remind me most of "Wonderful And Sad"). "The Score" reminds me a bit of Hawksley too. The hidden track on "Lover/Fighter" is also about getting a motorbike, and the first line of "The Score" says something like 'I rented a motorbike' or something.... Wink

I'll agree there. "Mary" could likely do well as a single but I still think "Day One" would really influence people to look into Sarah's music more. I believe it to be more radio listener friendly then "Lucky Me". I know "Sweet Ones" brought in a lot of fans (including myself) and I really think "Day One" would have the same effect. Of course I'm looking at the process of releasing a single in terms of how many people will pick up the CD. I'm sure there are other ways of looking at it.

And ya.. "Out In the Park" becoming a single is probably a little dream inside of me hoping that radio could improve - which looks doubtful.

there's a part of the "Lucky Me" video - "a wise man once tried to tell me..." - that has the same style as a Hawksley video. i don't remember for which song. but the speed of the footage changes constantly. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Cheers.

i totally agree.. hawksley does rock.. and ya.. 'mary' does sound alot like 'wonderful and sad' except that i despise 'mary' and like 'wonderful and sad'.
and regarding 'The Score' sounding like anything else? .... to me... its VERY 'Go or Go Ahead' by Rufus... b/c of how it builds... but maybe its just me...

Jealous of your Cigarrette? I think that entire video was shot that way. That's the first time I heard Hawksley - great song.

for the record, i wasn't necessarily "complaining" that 'Mary' sounds like something Hawksley would do.
Hawksley's awesome.
