I agrees!
I should edit my topic, I think Vertigo was my favourite song. The illustrations were amazing. I wish I had that talent. *sighs* I'll miss the Nightbugs hotel... we had our own little Newfoundland topic. I'll have to repost "Come back to the rock!!" Or get Jill to. |

you certainly must - I'll refrain from doing so myself.

this is a great cd. and i adore the artwork to no end.
there's an incredible cabaret-feel to it and its just brilliant. i'm absolutely in love with it and i can safely say i will be for a while [img:3feb1f4bff]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v192/siren11/ljiconforsara.gif[/img:3feb1f4bff] [color=Red:3feb1f4bff]"if homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work - 'hello, can't work today, still queer'"[/color:3feb1f4bff] |

Listening to it on the car ride from the music store to school, I was already in love with it.

i'm so in love with this album it's pathetic.
i'll be walking in 6/8 for the next month. |

Holy guacamole. She's done it again. Like others, I listened to this jewel on my way from the music store back to the university...and then again during class...completely ignored the lecture for the day. Absolutely mesmerized. Only one thing, I wonder - how are the live shows going to be structured now? I have only ever seen her solo with the beloved piano...now with all the electronic twists...? Either way, it will be amazing. I love Vertigo as well, but I think that my favourite is California (I sang it last week at one of my own shows, and people loved it). From what I heard when it was done live, it is completely different on the album, but absolutely amazing. Loved the different takes on many of the songs I heard last Fall!!! WAHOOOOO!!! She comes to Calgary in less than a month! I pine, I perish...

On first listen, I have to admit that I was dissapointed... I was expecting a lot, and I was expecting compltely different. Where was the piano? I wondered... Too much rock!
I listened to it again yesterday and my mind was changed. It really is a brilliant album, and I'm glad that I'm able to love it as much as I was hoping to. I do, however, still have some issues with the production on a couple of the songs. But I won't complain, fantastic album! ...recipe for cooking stew is unhygenic, and results in bad tasting stew ...chowder is better than his moonsock ...interest is no longer in the thick-mustachioed men |

yeah...i don't really find it as emotionally charged. maybe just because it doesn't seem as dramatic to me as her older stuff does. i really do like some of the songs on 'day one' though and i hope the others grow on me.

I'd say its the most "dramatic/emotional" piece of work she has done. Can't wait to see her live because I know its just going to be so much more 'lively' and 'fun'.

Oh, I should also note that even when I didn't like the album, Your Wish Is My Wish made up for it. What a brilliant song. Its in the same vein as John 23rd, which is still my favoritemost Slean song.

i just got my copy this weekend.
i LOVE pilgrim, the score and surprisingly, vertigo. i had a live mp3 of vertigo and HATED it. but the album version won me over a million times. |

Fave song, eh? Tough question, there really isn't a weak spot on this incredible CD. Each listen, and its been constantly spinning since I picked it up on Friday, yields a new "favourite". But I suppose if I had to choose, I'd go with "When Another Midnight"....I mean, damn..."It's Socrates weeping in a wheelchair".
I'm really bowled over with Sarah's lush, rich lyrics. I am so enjoying this CD, its ridiculous. later, JO [i:53cc3dbc5d]there's good love out there, just you wait[/i:53cc3dbc5d] |

'Day One' is brilliant. After hearing her performance with the TSO, I had high expectations. The new album has easily met them: from the gaudy theatrics of 'The Score', to the simplicity of 'Wake Up' (Aside: 'Wake Up' reminds me of 'Blackbird', for some reason)
There is, arguably, one weak song; but it is only weak in comparison to the rest of the album (and in my opinion, of course). As much as I loved her previous recordings, I find that they pale in comparison to her latest works. 'Day One' is just really effing good: I can't stress this enough, people. |
