The Get Home video contest is now on.

A few videos have already been uploaded. On my system both Firefox and Explorer play the videos fine but the audio appears all choppy.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Even if you have no interest of submiting a video, you might enjoy the promo photos and video clips.

for my computer none of the footage given is showing up except for ONE for each category... nor does it even let me drag any of them into the timeline... it may just be my computer though.

I'm not having those problems, just the audio constantly skipping.

The audio skips for me, but only when I view the submitted entries, not when I try to create my own.

Who is excited for this?!?! I have no editing experience whatsoever, but I'm gonna do my best, and hope for one of the secondary prizes I don't know how I'm going to find the time to do this though, among all my assignments and tests and....bleh. I'll find a way!

I spent hours making mine last night! I'm very happy with it, and I think this is a GREAT idea for a competition.

I tried to tell a story about two women being played by a faceless man (the coward). One is the sort of plain looking "wife" at home. The other is beautiful seductress in a red dress who spends night and day waiting on the man, who never comes to her. In the end the women realize that their positions are in fact the same and come together in a way by getting out of the situation and turning their backs on him.

On the contest rules it says that Sarah Slean is going to judge the top ten videos and on the video site it says that the video with the most views gets to go to Paris. So which one is right? Does Sarah pick the video of the top ten to fly to Paris? or does the video with the most votes automatically go to Paris? I tried emailing the website, but the message was returned as undeliverable! Does anyone know?

I don't think it goes by the most views. I read Sarah judges the top 10 rated videos. (Although there should be a minimum amount a views a video should have before being considered....)

Contests are tricky to run but I do love the creativity of this one. It reminds of my playing with Mario Paint as a kid.

I didn't receive any codes on confirmation, just the word Done showed that it had finished transferring. I think someone else posted in the contest comments about the same problem.

Secondly, I suspect there has been self voting. It would be sad if the "top 10" are those that just refreshed their own video every 10 mins.

My video has a theme/plot. It shows the differences between the loud, fast, busy city and the calm, peacefulness and beauty of nature outside the city. The verses are the city, chorus is nature. At the end, the city and nature come together, showing how there can be beauty in the city.

I just re-read the conteest rules and #4 states this:

4. The top ten videos with the most votes will be judged by Sarah Slean, who will choose the contest winners.

So everyone is correct!

As soon as I saw that you could vote every 10 minutes I figured there would be a lot of that. This also then becomes a contest of who can best promote their video and who can get friends and family to vote for them... a lot.

That's not to say that I'm not going to be trying this out but I think that the votes to get people into that top ten are going to be based less on skill and more on popularity and promotion.

Hey Sleansters

So I made this awesome video, because I NEED to visit Paris once in this lifetime, my video was great, edited to perfection, and then at the end I did not get a banner!!! I used the HELP button and it emailed them and they wrote me back and emailed me my banner!!!! Magical. They said they just needed my email, and thanked me for telling them about it. They were actually kinda concerned and were sorry about it, which was nice. Sometimes people dont care. But I got my video back so me happy.

ugh... i'm using the school's computers (tried on 2 of them!) aaand something weird is happening to the editing page when i go to it. this message pops up.. but like... a double message (one on top of another so i can hardly see what the words are saying)... aah! all i want is a working computer so i can enter this contest... haha.
