Not 100% sure if this is legit - waiting for a reply from Sarah to confirm, but assuming it is, she's now up on MySpace;

It doesn't seem like it's actually her, just based on the fact that the photos are all Night Bugs or earlier (when she's got TONS of photos that are more recent), and her record label is listed as "Independant" (sic) when she's clearly signed to Warner. For "Lucky Me", it also says Day One - 2003 WEA International. Shouldn't it be 2004? Plus, the only listed show (Harbourfront) says it's in Ontario, Toronton. That's right, good ol' Toronton. :P

Of course, I could be dead wrong.

I think Sarah has more taste than what's set up on that page. I hate it when people put weird backgrounds up or put the whole thing in black with strange designs ... makes it harder to read.

http://www.cdbaby.com/all/kristilyn <-- these are my CDs. Smiler "This music is in the vein of Terami Hirsch (without the electrics), Sarah Slean (without the drunk-ish vocals) and perhaps, Tori Amos (without the nuts)." Amy Lotsberg, Collected Sounds.

I'm going to guess it's not her. Although it's a more clever fake than most of the ones I've seen around on the internet. I found a fake greatest journal the other day that creeped the hell out of me.

But I agree with metal2000 the pictures are all old. I think if someone set a site up for her it would be using the Day One material...

hmmm... sketchy. Why would someone set up a fake artist? that's so... random.

The lyrics for Lucky Me are all messed up as well.

The only time I've seen it set up as the artist is when it's someone who's close to the artist and posts up blogs and current shows and whatnot (Michelle Cross's page is like that).

well, so far the consensus seems to be this is a fake...

and closer examination makes that pretty certain...that or Sarah needs some serious web design help

*raises hand to volunteer* :P

Did I hear someone say something about web design help?

That's all I do! Count me in! :P

Seriously, though, I know lots of artists who run their own MySpace sites, although most of them are up-and-coming artists (not all of them are, though, as several of my favourite bands/artists including Mood Ruff, Wide Mouth Mason, and Cary Brothers all run their own, I believe). The "Sarah Slean" one just doesn't fit the bill with what these artists put into their MySpace sites.

Depends on what you mean by "fake".
Yes, I'll agree that it's highly unlikely that it's actually Sarah creating the page.
However, there seems to be many non-official pages like this where someone just creates a new "group" for fans like us to gather.
And seeing as there has never been a Slean page on myspace at all, I guess this individual felt it necessary to start one.

Cheers.

Except that wouldn't streaming her songs without her permission and Warner's permission be illegal?

yeah, so do natalie merchant's. i assumed this page wasn't actually sarah's the moment i looked at her influences... i highly doubt that sarah would write a long list like that and not include glenn gould or any classical composer.

exactly....

I suppose anyone's entitled to make whatever page they want...nothing against that....however, many of the un-official "official" pages I've seen on MySpace make their non-affiliation with the artist clear.

I would think publishing the songs on the page is not copywrite kosher.
