A post production worker titled Black Widow as
""Black Widow" (one hour film noir musical)" Hopefully we can gather some reviews from the Calgary film festival. Bravo will be likely the first to air it and with CBC on strike, it appears uncertain when they may get around to it. Fall is almost here. Cameron Bay. |

CBC's strike only affects any programs that are not yet completed. i.e. daily news shows, newsmagazine-type shows... possibly some of the comedies and such if they're in the union (likely), sporting events, etc.
If the movie's already filmed and produced and ready to be shown -- all they have to do is throw the tape in the player, so if it's still planned to be aired on CBC I doubt the strike will affect it at all. Plus the loss of revenue from the newly-revived hockey season will give CBC management incentive to get back to the table -- I imagine the strike will be over by December. ~ If this is the car, that I must drive to the job, that I must keep for the house, and a man I don't love; count me out. ~ ~ Sweet hope is glowing in your glorious eyes ~ |

doubt if its that straight forward... [quote:3348f3b442="Sweet One"] I imagine the strike will be over by December.[/quote:3348f3b442] but agree, I'd be shocked if its not settled long before then. ...jim [i:53cc3dbc5d]there's good love out there, just you wait[/i:53cc3dbc5d] |

[quote:5ca5f5bb1f="joleary"]
doubt if its that straight forward... [/quote:5ca5f5bb1f] It might be. If CBC isn't responsible for any of the production work then whoever is will likely just send them a tape (or, in these days, an MPEG file or the like), and one of the managers who are running the station will flip a switch or insert the tape and it will air. They may have to regulate the commercials, but in most media conglomerates that aren't airing live programming, there's often only one person in the control room presiding over a dozen or more channels. It's surprisingly simple. ~ If this is the car, that I must drive to the job, that I must keep for the house, and a man I don't love; count me out. ~ ~ Sweet hope is glowing in your glorious eyes ~ |

this isn't about Black Widow but it is about CBC. Before I went out yesterday I caught the beginning of a movie(?) that had like Rufus Wainwright, Hawksley and a bunch of other canadian acts. I can't quite remember what it was called but it was based on the music of someone. Anyone heard of it?

It was a film called "Stormy Weather: The Music of Harold Arlen" which was about Arlen, who is drugged up, remembering back on his life.
He dreams up Hawksley, Rufus, Jimmy Scott and even Sandra Bernhard performing his most popular songs. Hawksley did a take on "I've Got the World On a String"... I am not sure what Rufus did. ~nicole g |

Rufus sang [i:1b430af9a6]Its Only A Paper Moon[/i:1b430af9a6], and [i:1b430af9a6]I Wonder What Became Of Me[/i:1b430af9a6]...both so wonderfully. I have the soundtrack .. which I should listen to soon I think. I don't think I've heard the whole thing yet |

ah much thanks Nik and Flare. I kind of wanted to watch it but we were just heading out the door. Hopefully it comes on again...
