What do you mean no Saturday?

It's in your email, they're open from 12-6. The plan still is to meet up there at 4 for those who want to.

The art show was alot of fun. There were many new pieces that were stunning, as well as most of the pieces from "Ravens." I was not there for the first performance with the Blue Spruce quartet, but she did perform 4 songs during the public reception: Eliot, Sweet Ones, Duncan, Adelwiese ("This one will go into the history books!"Wink. She was very cute in a very little yellow dress ("I love this dress, but never again!"Wink She mingled alot and was very cute dancing to Lindy (Sp?). Anyways, I'm seriously thinking about purchasing one of the cheaper works, so many of them are just stunning and I want them all! lol

A great night all round. I really enjoy the evening for many reasons.

First, of course, was Sarah. She performed two sets, the first with the Blue Spruce Quartet, opening her performance with another angelic rendition of Pie Jesu. Those in the crowd not already a fan were clearly captivated from that moment on.

Sarah's second set was a bit of a surprise, at least to me. Both sets were short, ~4-5 songs, but wonderful nonetheless. She closed the night with the crowd sing-a-long of Edelweiss.

Other songs included a string arrangement of Lucky Me, Eliot, Duncan, When Another Midnight, I Know and Pilgrim.

When not performing, Sarah was working the media and mingling with the crowd. It was a very laid back, friendly vibe and felt like we were hanging at a private little party at Sarah's loft. :-)

She was obviously high on energy from such a very exciting evening for her. She looked beyond gorgeous and chatted with us numerous times throughout the evening.

There were a number of familiar/famous faces in the crowd, the highlight, for me, being seeing and getting a chance to chat with Mary Margaret O'Hara. What started as a liquid-courage fueled fan-boy attempt at simply saying hello turned into a free-wheeling half-hour chat about, among other things, seeing her perform live back in 1987, the brilliance of Canadian artists, living/working in LA, my kids, Black Widow, sneaking off to a cabin a la Sarah, the music/club scene in Toronto,k-os and Valery Gore. I invited her to join us at the Bluebird North show @ Hugh's Room tonight - frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if she showed!

As well, it was great fun to see and hang with the Passioneers. Joel successfully made his way from BC to join us. Jarita, Jackie, Nicole, Neal and Elizabeth - always good company.

Oh, and finally, I couldn't restrain myself and I'm now the very proud owner of "Emily's Chariot" (pg 14 in Ravens)

And I just realized I haven't mentioned the ART itself. Which, as expected was gorgeous. It was such a treat to see the originals all lined up on the wall and watching Sarah fawn over each of them to the media as if they were her beloved children, which I suppose isn't far from the truth. Was also a nice view watching her perform with the art-filled wall as the backdrop.

All in all, a magnificent night.

...jim

I'll be stopping by to say hello to everyone, but I just moved last weekend and everythign is chaotic so I won't be staying long. Not much to say that hasn't already been said, the art is simply delightful. I haven't fully convinced myself not to buy one yet :S

And as Jim mentioned, quite the star-studded event... members of Billy Talent and Broken Social Scene, MuchMusic VJ's, Mary Margaret, Damhnait Doyle, amongst many others. The gallery itself is rather beautiful, it's in a spacious loft (the kind of place you'd LOVE to live) and it's well-lit... though the dance club thing at the end of the night was... well, odd. Lots of fun though Smiler

I was there last night as well...

Great time, fabulous art, and the (what felt like a) private show was amazing.

I have many photos... once I post them up, I will link them here.

Sorry I didnt know any of you, wish I could have met some people.

Also, if anyone comes in from out of town... I HIGHLY recommend the drake.

Just beware that the showers and toilets are not private in the room, they are basically glass showcases for your mate to watch you in... so prepare to stand in the hall while your family member has to shower and take care of business!! It didnt matter thought, we still have an exceptional time, and the drake treated us like celebrities.

I have my really really rambly reviewish thing of the evening written up here: http://elizalavelle.livejournal.com/347075.html

I included a full list of the art that Sarah has on display at the end... so it's a long read.

Little slide show for you folks.

Please don't crosspost or reuse these photos without letting me know, thanks!

Did anyone else notice how tough it was to shoot any decent photos due to the extreme spot light on her face? I am satisfied with the shots, I just wish I could have gotten some better shots showing the piano and the background.
