Poking around on RollingStone.com and thought I'd see what they had to say about Sarah.

Not much it would seem. Literally no write-up, no reviews, nothing. Except a very short and incomplete discography.

However, the discography made mention of a benefit album, which further surfing revealed has Sarah's "Awake Soon" on it.

Anyone heard of this before? Is it the same version from the Blue Parade CD?

Inquiring completists want to know. Big Grin

Indeed...it is the same version.

Found it on Amazon, although they claim they've only got 5 copies left.

Yes I have heard of its existence and only knew that awake soon was on it. I think I have the complete tracklisting somewhere... but I am sure you could find it just as easily on amazon.

I've never heard of the CD either, although it's nice to see her songs on benefit cds.

WHAT!? Awake Soon is an amazing little gem. You don't realize its beauty until you rub it a few times and then POOF it's this rare ruby with all these fantastic facets you never thought possible in a song.

The lyrics are stunning and the fact that she recorded her voice against itself in harmony... WOW!

Give it another chance Johnathan!

I like that she recorded herself doing the harmony. It's a really nice effect.

Just tried listening to it again. Sure the lyrics are fine, but the harmonies just don't agree with me I guess. Only one of the handful of Slean songs that I cannot listen to.

I've yet to come up against one of those.

Oh, and Nik...lovely description of the song. Big Grin

I guess they can't all be your favourites. I have my few that get the skip over too.

Really? I have maybe one or two songs that aren't my favourite, but I never skip over Sarah!

Of course there are some songs that just resonate more than others, but even that changes with the day and with my mood.

Not a one among her four CD's do I not enjoy.

Hooray for listening to an artist's entire works without skipping a single one! I think that's rare these days. So many people I know either buy a CD and listen to a couple songs and don't give the rest a chance, or just burn CDs with songs they know, never giving the unknown, potentially great ones a chance.

Agreed again!!
That's a HUGE pet peeve of mine -- when someone will buy a CD specifically 'cause they like a song or two... and then just not even bother listening to the other ones... It's SO frustrating to have a conversation with someone who says [for example, though I don't know many people who bought Night Bugs and did this] "Oh, I have Night Bugs, it's a good album" "what do you think of My Invitation?" "Oh, I haven't listened to that one" "When did you get the album?" "2 years ago"
AUGH
