looks like its been in the works---this is from Pilate's blog:

march 17

well, it's st. patrick's day, and as i sit here i'm neither drinking, yelling or wearing green. though i hope to be doing at least one of those before too long.
let's see....what happened since we last spoke? well, we had the pleasure of our first guest appearance during these sessions.... our friend sarah slean played some piano on a tune yesterday... she's a phenomenal player and a wonderful person as well. the song started as a sort of theatrical-bowie kind of thing (which is why we thought of sarah to play) but ended up somewhere in hey jude territory.... it sounds pretty crazy.

wow. nice Big Grin Will definitely be picking this up. I also love that Sarah is now officially "Canada's favourite piano-pixie" There's something kinda sweet about that.

oooooohhhh.... that's exciting!

man, sarah gets around! hehe

my question, and I know I am not the first to ask it, but is it "pilate" like Pontius Pilate (in the Bible) or is is "pilate" like Pilates (the exercise)??? I've heard arguments for both. I hope it's the former, but no matter what, I think I will always pronounce it as the latter in my head.

Veeeery cool news. Their first album blew me away. And now w/ Sarah on their follow-up... HOT DAMN!! Big Grin

I believe it's the Pilate from the Bible. I mean, it's pronounced like "pilot"... altho I'll admit I said the latter too when I first saw it.

Cheers.

They were on the MMVA's last year and got VERY uppity about the pronunciation of the band's name. MOST anglos pronounce it "Pilot" but it's essentially pronounced "pee-lut" when you add the accent and such... hopefully that helps lol

Interesting news indeed. I think il ad that to Little Slean News aswell as Neal's Mary remix find.

Funny forum to put it in but I guess "Day One" and "Past Releases" didn't make much more sense either.

Yeah... I still think we need a general slean forum... a place to talk about side projects, the movie, etc.

i know, the blog helps sometimes.

Alexsisonfire interested in recording with Sarah (if he can't get July?). haha.
[quote:10f2af0e8a]One of the things he might do is add some female voices. He talked with Sarah Slean and Jully Black over Juno weekend in Winnipeg. "I like girls that sing a lot," says Green. "I love music that's electronic beats with a girl singer, like Everything But The Girl and Imogen Heap and Frou Frou and all the Massive Attack stuff when they have guest vocalists."

Right now, there are no guest vocalists on the album. "It's just me. But I'd love to, especially Jully Black because she's got the best voice in Canada." [/quote:10f2af0e8a]

I can't see Sarah doing that... that would be interesting. I'm all for Alexisonfire, but the two together? Its like a spam and jam sandwhich!

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `

I think they would take it in a different approach thinking they like the sound of Massive Attack and Everything But the Girl.

That quote appears to be from Dallas Green, who is the guitarist in Alexisonfire but also has his own acoustic (and much mellower) side project, so I think he's talking about singers he would like to collaborate with himself, not with the band.

we all reject for pleasure.
