I just heard on CBC Radio 1 (Montreal) the end of Pink Floyd's "Us and Them", and I was captivated. Had never heard of Sarah Slean before.
So came here in the hopes of getting the whole song, or finding out more about this upcoming release the announcer mentioned. Can someone point me in a related direction?

This news you bring comes as a big surprise to myself and I presume most on the board.

I had no idea Sarah covered that song or any information on the broadcast other then what you provided.

I found that they airred the song on the CBC show titled Freestlye:

According to R and R Canada it does appear that at the start of this month this song was released as a digital single to radio stations. Google has provided some other info. I'm going to try compile my findings tomorrow.

As per information on her new album and the the Floyd Redux,
The live album is penciled in to be released this Spring. Her next album I believe is still be written in France or where Sarah happens to be these days. No ETA on that.

^^I meant digital single as a digital promo sent out, like the case with the Improbable Pop Mix of Mary.

There are 2 cuts of this song. One being a radio edit and the other being the 'album version'. I haven't been able to see any source for seeling this album yet, although it appears to be widely torrented.

I suspect the album version 1/3 longer then the radio edit.

I have 2 Canadian radio stations indicating a release date of May 30th on this Various artist album.

I a bit new at this torrenting stuff, but found a source this morning and had time to enjoy one play of it before having to run off. Creamy!

I'm interested in the album (not just the Slean part), but can't find any info about it anywhere. Any idea about other artists? Is it a Canadian-only release (and thus only Canadian artists)?

(I'm also highly anticipating Dream Theater's official bootleg release of the "Dark Side of the Moon" album performed in its entirety.)

My memory is a little hazy of last night, but I went to a retro night last night and they played another Pink Floyd cover. I wish I knew for the life of me what it was. Apparently this is filtering its way around... I'm certain more info will surface soon

It appears that the Slean cover is just being pushed as a media single for the moment and that's what has been leaked.

My guess is that the album information will be released nearer to the release date.

Edit- For those interested, it's a very new musical direction for Sarah... it reminds me alot of Tori Amos around the Strange Little Girls era. The odd precussions and sombre piano mood... and of course Sarah delivers with brilliantly layered vocals.
Oh, I can't stop loving it.

from what I could find, the release date for this album is June 13th and Sarah has two songs, Us and Them and Comfortably Numb.
