I wonder if Sarah Slean will release a live DVD at one of her concerts this year? Wonder if will have to wait until November because of the Christmas season? Will there be an interview? What about the videos?

i definitely think there's a market for it, maybe she could do something through maplemusic so the costs wouldn't be so high either (even a live CD would make me very happy)

I remember Melanie Doane did a live album through Maplemusic a few years ago, so i'm sure at this time, Sarah has enough of a fanbase to make one. And i really hope she does.

I think that it's a great idea. Even a live CD would be fantastic (although I've made two of my own :lol: )

The Salads were the last band to release a live DVD. i don't think now is the best time for a recording of one.

A special nite with the full band maybe. It's hard to say but I think at the moment it feels to early for a DVD.

Next year HD-DVD will be coming out. (25+ GB storrage capacity). I would rather wait.

I think a live cd is something totally realistic for us to hope for though.... somebody ask slean about it on this tour!

Holly McNarland made one a few years back. I think Sarah could definately have one! It's possible! I'd love to see one that includes a concert and all of her videos!

Agreed. Same goes for Sarah McLachlan's latest DVD, which was shot entirely at the Toronto show... including the fireworks display out of the Ontario Place. Anyway, it'd be pretty cool to film Ms. Slean's show perhaps at the Mod Club. But anything live by her would just be frickin awesome... CD, DVD... both!! :idea:

I sort of talked with Sarah about a live cd/dvd after her concert here in the Netherlands.....she told me she would LOVE to do it if there was someone to help her and tell her what to do. Since if she would be doing it she wanted it to be done properly :P

But yes.....i asked her about it cause i'd REALLY love a live cd or dvd..... especially if there are nice solo versions on it...or different arrangements of the songs

there are many different ways to go about music dvds. the white stripes Under The Blackpool lights was done all on 8mm and 16mm film which only contain 3 minute cartridges. That DVD would have felt wrong being done in any other fashion. Multi angled features on DVDs is pretty cool. I think at the Carling Acadamy performances of Pop Will Eat Itself the footage from that nights show was available for sale 15 minutes after the shows end. I know the audio was.

i still don't know what i would want from sarah dvd. just footage from 1 show, with the full band, and pretty lighting? or a special night with the orchestra?? ohhhhh if she plays with the Toronto Syphany Orchestra that would be nice. If Black Widow comes out on DVD it would be cool if they had a portion of the music being done. That was a feature on the Kill Bill v2 and Cold Mountain DVDs.
I find the documentary approach to be sometimes the most entertaining. Following a tour or the work up for one big show (bona vista social club).

chuckles, in the past releases forum there is a thread dedicated to vinyl. Once school started I somewhat halted in my talk of making it happen.

HD-DVD does make sense. it holds the capactiy of 5 times the standard DVD and would be the only way to record HD tv as standard DVD format is to small. There are 2 competing formats but it's coming, PS3 will be able to play it. They will still be able to play older DVDs. those surround sound CDs and other formats are still making their fight.

I agree with with you ProdigyBoy about the content of a Sarah DVD. I'd be nice to have some added features like a tour documentary and some clips from Black Widow. Maybe even a biography. The live CD thing I think would happen. It seems like every artist eventually does one.

Oh it's funny that you say that. Cause I asked her why they didnt record the tracks with the toronto orchestra since they were amazing!!! But she said she would have love to, but they weren't allowed.........or they had to pay every single member of the orchestra :evil: which isnt really in the budget ofcourse

too bad....i hope she will be able to release nice orchestra recordings one day

my friend has a really really sweet DVD camcorder ... we take it to a lot of concerts so we can relive our psychoness during the concert ... but out of respect to sarah I told her not to bring it this time. I remember reading something where she said she didnt like bootlegs cause they ruin the quality of the music when not done preperly. let me tell you, this DVD camcorder is hot shit and the quality would still be borderline fantastic.

But i really don't need Sarah spitting on me.

actually i woudlnt mind if it's Sarah. kidding ... and she would never do something like that!

Let's all bug sarah about a live CD/DVD on this tour so every night she's reminded of how bad we all want one. and that it's not too unrealistic to expect one since it's pretty easy to do nowadays. I dont need some 5.1DTS surround stuff. just sarah.
