That's rather brave to recorde video at shows. Pricey equipment to loose and it difficult to sometime recorde and enjoy.

You might be able to get a green light to recorde video if you clear things ahead of time. There is one site that hosts 2 amature video recordings of Sarah playing. Overall I think most videos are done as strict bootlegs as legally things can get icky. The tapper can be a distraction with a light up LED screen or what not and you can't recorde ppl with (audio) before getting their consent.

I was wondering if the Celebrate toronto Street Festival (summer 03) would have been brodcasted as it seemed to be pro shot of the giant video screen s and would have made great tv.

ps- i forgot the whole orchestra would need to get a cut. some how portishead found away for their NYC Roseland DVD.

the video bit is a lot trickier than making a live cd though. if a bunch of us did it together with sarah's consent it could be pretty decent quality stuff. c'mon guys, let's convince her .... sarah slean live CD, recorded by fans!

Don't panic, I'll get the arc, you get the animals.

Now we know people are talking about a DVD and we just want to set the record straight. At the show on April 29th a live DVD was produced and handed out on site. Some friends of ours are developing this wicked technology; they can record shows and author DVDs on site! They were using Joel to test their stuff and man, did it work. If you weren't at the show you can't get a copy, but never fear...a DVD is in the works for release in 2006 and it will have footage from live shows, videos, and more. It will be worth the wait.[/quote:608c6449cc]

MapleMusic Recordings

This was done with maple music so there might be a chance for Sarah to do the same thing one day. Now, based on the impression she has over tapped music this might not be the way to go as there is no real time to master the audio/video on this. One change from the live taping is that done this way, there is a chance to earn revenue while fans still can relive that show.

I know for "Pop will Eat Itself" audio of the nights show is available right after it and a DVD 15minutes after the show.

I think it would be neat if Sarah released Night Bugs or Day One - the live album. Kind of in the same sense as Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes VHS. For that, Tori put on all of the songs, and some of the b-sides for the album, on the VHS, and for the songs that had no video, she put a live version.

Or, Sarah could do what Hawksley Workman did for his Live in Lille DVD and have a live show, and then for the bonus features have videos. I also like Ben Folds Five's 'Spare Reels' on Ben's live DVD.

Just my $0.02.
