I think Sarah is a creative genius. However, I am interested to see what you guys, her loyal fans, creatively revel in. Words, moving pictures, photographs, sound, life...let us know.

I recorded a CD of my music for my Music Capstone in university - you can hear clips of it at www.kristilynrobertson.com.

I used to play saxophone in a handful of bands in high school and university.... I also played clarinet for a number of years, and dabbled in percussion, bass guitar, and trombone...
Alas, the fourth of five years in an accounting co-op program is not very conducive to playing music. Nor is living in an apartment building. I miss it dearly.... if I had the tiem and money I would love to pick up a bass again and really learn how to play it... or even sax/clarinet again.
*sigh*

I'm an animator. A computer animator to be exact. I'm striving to one day work for EA Sports in Vancouver. But I do love drawing. I play the guitar. I'm totally into building scale models (eg. Gundams). Right now I'm working as an animator for the show [u:3b96db6d25]Chilly Beach[/u:3b96db6d25], which some of you may have seen on CBC. But I consider that only a stepping stone.

My gallery site is listed here. Feel free to browse it. Though it's been a long time since I updated it.

Cheers.

I'm a graduated college student in Creative Arts, and ever since childhood, my dream in life is wanting to be an artist. Right now is my starting point in making my dream comes true, I guess... with my support from friends, family, teachers and even people I don't recognized but they gave me a "thumbs-up".

Couple of months ago, there was a "end-of-semester" art gallery and screening at my college for grad students like me, showing our works on display. My art pieces was somewhat alright, but the most recognized piece I've shown is my 2D animation and the audience gave me the hugest applause for my works and even when I came up on stage for a "MVP" award. Real nervous.
...then I went to a bar with everybody and got stinkin' drunk, but that's a whole different story!

Anyways, here's "The Jazz Scene"... Enjoy!

P.S. That song was sung by one of Ms. Slean's favorite jazz singers...
P.S.S. Funny I'm the only person in Creative Arts who liked jazz music!

Nice to hear about your creative ventures everyone.

I consider myself first and foremost a writer. I give life to my words through songwriting, combining them with vintage images (http://www.geocities.com/thegabardinesuits), or creating a monologue and combining it with video and music (http://zed.cbc.ca/go.ZeD?POS=1&CONTENT_ID=136554&am...p;user=lindsaydobbin) to name a few.

And, here's a poem I wrote...

It was Tunisia where I layed my hands down,
Onto the thick silk that grasped onto the haze
From their guns
It was a fence undone;
It was all of us rising up in one great glory!

These streets are half crowded now,
Only those who have remained are fearful
Fearful of the days when the dew drips down
Onto the white linen that lines our pupils.

These walls have collapsed with great force,
We ran into them many times
And the rain weathered them away;
All our effort
And Time
weathered them away.

But it takes time my friend;
Time to win such battles.

Were now better off without our guns,
Squishing tragedy out of what's left of our hearts.

I write songs too. I have also recorded two CDs on my own time with my computer and my keyboard and stuff. Bad quality but I'm proud of some of the songs I've made. Neat stuff!

Here's a song I wrote earlier in the year called 'Third Wheel'. I love hearing and reading comments and thoughts on my songs. I should make a website for my writings sometime. Anyways, here ya go:

Sitting alone on the pavement steps
I am looking over the fields of hands crossed over
Two pairs of legs walking aligned as one
Conversations never to be done between lovers
Never before have my experience in this
And I can't see myself in the shoes of his
Night after night I come home alone
Unable to stop the flow that forms
My thoughts are stuck on constant you
My heart and mind fighting, who will lose
Even if I was the second choice
Beggers can't be choosers, can you hear my voice
I really think that now I need you mine
I'm not sure if I can't wait any more time
If you were to leave right now maybe I'd move on
And if I don't it wouldn't make a difference to you now

Would you mind if I followed you now
Can I hold your hand for just a little while
Please memorize my phone number and call
I promise I won't forget you at all
I truly believe that you are perfect for me
If I had the chance I'd prove it to you indefinately
But I can't for now because there's somebody else
So I wrote this song to simply help myself
I can't believe that all this time I was fooled
Into thinking that I could have had you
So fucking stupid was I to think I could
Have something so perfect to me that you are you
So please forgive me when I tell you that I
thought you could have loved someone as low as me
And I promise I won't be mad for long
When your lineup of lovers is full and mine is empty

"And now I think I'll get through..."

...oh yeah, try to find some other works I did in 2003 and 2004...

P.S. I don't have any works in the Film or Photography section 'cause I'm in the Studio Arts program (drawings, paintings, sculptures, 2D imaging, 3D imaging, etc.)

I used to play guitar in these bands:
-The Breaking Project http://theproj.cjb.net
-The Avram
-What Stops Us?
and now I'm in a band called How We Are. If you're interested in hearing any of them, feel free to get in touch.
I'm also working on putting a book of writing together (poetry and prose). Speaking of which, does anyone know anything regarding getting books made/printed? any insight would be helpful.

When I relaunch my personal website in the next week or so (which I suppose is in itself a creative venture) it will have a newly updated section for music, with full mp3 downloads, lyrics, etc. I'll also have my play posted and photographs I've taken.

I'll be sure to let you know when it's up.

creative ventures include:

poetry
prose
painting
collages

i keep wondering if creativeness needs instruction or not....hmmm...for now, i shall remain an uneducated creator 8)

Instructions or not, some of the famous artists never really attended art schools or some kind of creative institution (man, I needed a spell check on that word: "institution"...) See why I needed education for this...

I was sitting in the library today contemplating what the difference may be between an artist who is successful in various artistic mediums like Cocteau and an artist who is successful in one artistic medium such as music and cannot apply their ideas to other forms such as painting. Is it an issue of training? Is it an issue of personality? Is it an issue of history?

We all know Sarah is not only an amazing songwriter but a passioneer who creates meaningful words, paintings, drawings, characters...

I'm guessing the word is "renaissance", I think... Ms. Slean has done almost anything, from paintings to music, to poetry, to even acting in a movie, and something creative in between... Build a giant sculpture and she's unstoppable!

I play piano as well as the saxophone; write my own music for the former. I also try to write poetry, sometimes successfully, but more often than not unsuccessfully. Heh.
