Aw! It's God spam. How quaint.
I don't need to be saved, things. "And now I think I'll get through..." |

wow...this message will scare more people away from christianity than it will appeal to anyone...
you sound like an infomercial |

Technically this post is in the off topic so it's really free reign, but if you folks feel its inappropriate, let me know and I will remove it.

Well, it appears to me to be spam because this person isn't really asking for a discussion or anything. It's just a bunch of stuff that eventually gives a link to a website.

I don't find this post inappropriate. I found the remark
inappropriate. I saw other posts of people talking about Heaven, this is just an interpretation of that. What is so "quaint" about it? Quaint implies old-fashioned, when Christianity is really not. What is old-fashioned about love your neighbour? Did you know that 33% of the world's population is Christian and that many of them are being persecuted just so they can practice loving their neighbour? This stat of 33% outweighs the stat for any other religion so it's fair to say this will speak for many people and hopefully to many people on this board. That is why I find this post appropriate, simply because of the statistics. (http://www.religioustolerance.org/worldrel.htm) "We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst." ~ C.S. I didn't mean that religion or Christianity is quaint but the post itself as it is spam. Not because of the message but the actual post itself. If it were promoting anything else with a link, it would be considered to be spam and this post is no different.
With that said, I'd like to question as to why loving thy neighbour has to be considered to be a Christian ideal? I'm not religious at all and while I was raised a Catholic, I've developed my own beliefs based on my life experiences that have seperated themselves from the things I was taught to believe growing up. However, just because I don't consider myself to be Catholic, a Christian or a member of any other form of organized religion, doesn't mean that I don't follow the general rules of life that include treating others the way I would want to be treating, being helpful and a genuinely good person and accepting of other people's beliefs and ideas. Statistics or not, a large number of people in one group of organized doesn't make them any more right in their beliefs as it does me. They can believe what I want just as I should be able to believe what I do as long as their beliefs aren't forced upon me and others that don't agree with them and as long as their beliefs are based on their own personal truths and not on what they were told to believe. I believe in genuine goodness and kindness toward other people and I honestly do try to exert myself to be as good a person I can to singular people and to the general population. I don't force my beliefs on other people and I don't think other's beliefs should be forced on me, such as they are in various politic-related situations. Spirituality and a strong belief-system is important for anyone. Promoting your beliefs is fine. Forcing your beliefs is not. "And now I think I'll get through..." |

...this is just spam! it's interesting how just because the topic was religion, people get offended so easily
i can see people getting upset if this were removed, even if just for its spam-istic nature..... that is if there were even enough active members on this board to care ..hm... |

The post was actually typed by a person. A quick google search shows that 'ronald' posted it on many somewhat random forums. (soccer fans, soap talk, body building, war reactments, e online, etc) Only real change is that he no longer includes his real email. It's not normally in good form to make your frist (and last?) post on a board an unrelated topic. The history of doing it is not really good either. With the amount of traffic on this board, I don't think there is any harm if the thread stays or goes. On the subject matter I was amused that it gives instuctions and encouragement to be saved and towards the conclusion presumes you have been saved. "Now that you are saved" On the note of Jesuschrist.com, i recall jesus.com being a joke site, god.com be nothing, and hell.com has gone through many revamps from poetry/email/ and just oddness. Back in May of 1970, the Ides Of March had a song called "Vehicle". The closing line said "Great God In Heaven You Know I Love You".

Just because something is popular doesn't make it good or right. Fergie's sold a million records. Her music still sucks. Christianity may not necessarily be a better religion than the others. Maybe it just has better marketting. |
