Hey everyone,

So I got this idea from someone who posted on the Charlotte Martin boards. They are doing the Walk for Multiple Sclerosis in their hometown and asking for pledges online. There is a spot to do so on the MS site, but I feel like I know you guys just a smidgen better than some stranger (ha! how much sense does that make?).

Anyway, to get to the point, my boyfriend and I are doing the 2006 Supercities Walk for MS in Edmonton, Alberta at the end of May and it would be so great to get some pledges!

I would appreciate anything you would be willing to give. The disease hits home for both of us as Waynes mom has had Multiple Sclerosis for the last 20 years or so. While there is no cure for her condition, the MS Society is coming very close to finding a cure for the disease.

For those of you unfamiliar with Multiple Sclerosis, here is a brief rundown of the disease (according to the Canadian MS site):

- Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system the brain and spinal cord. The disease attacks the protective myelin covering of the central nervous system, causing inflammation and often destroying the myelin in patches. In its most common form, MS has well defined attacks followed by complete or partial recovery. The severity of MS, progression and specific symptoms cannot be predicted at the time of diagnosis.

- Multiple sclerosis can occur at any age.

- MS is more than twice as likely to occur in women as in men and is seen most commonly in people of northern European background.

- An estimated 50,000 Canadians have multiple sclerosis.

- Canada is a high risk area for the disease, which occurs more often in countries, like Canada that are further away from the equator.

- There is hope for a cure. Researchers are learning more about what causes MS everyday and zeroing in on ways to prevent it.

To help find a cure for the cause, either find a walk in your area or pledge a walker!

Sorry if this whole thing goes against board policy, but if anyone would like to pledge me, you can do so at the following link:
