Here's something... We say "french fries" here, but when we say it in french, it's "patates frites" which is "fried potatoes"... which is why I wonder if people would say "fried potatoes" instead of "french fries".

Its like "Canadian Bacon"... we just call it bacon, but Americans call it "Canadian Bacon."
I think its the same for French Dressing and Italian Dressing... in their respective countries it is called something else.
