You're a ways inland from the coast, so the bulk of the hurricane's power should be dissipated by the time it hits Monterey...but nevertheless, these things are less predictable than we give them credit for.

Speaking from my first hand experience surviving the eye of Hurricane Floyd in 1999, the power and destruction is (was) like nothing I've ever seen.

There's nothing like being in Daytona Beach during Hurricane Andrew. No wonder the hotel was only $29/night -- it almost got washed away (the waves were literally crashing on the walls of the motel).

wow! thanks so much for your thoughts, and prayers! i feel so unworthy... especially since i've been getting more enjoyment out of the hurricane than misery. (pictures below)

though, on the serious note, i was strongly cautioned to stay indoors and not leave my house yesterday. school was closed down again today... but i am here because i have worried friends and family i need to email and i don't have internet at home. Many people have been evacuated from their homes and there has been some crazy damage around monterrey. As I said before, I live on a hill so even living in a ground floor apartment, my only worry was shooing water from my breezeway into the yard (which, incidentally, was part of my enjoyment).

It was supposed to be still raining today and no one can figure out why it has ceased... I imagine the cessation is only temporary.

Anyway, I have to compliment Mexico for its amazing relief work. While watching the news last night they had 15 minutes of listings of aid shelters around Monterrey and in the entire state of Nuevo Leon. They have done an excellent job of managing the humongous bulk of water and informing the people to keep them safe. yay mexico!

I just called all 5 Blockbusters in Hamilton and Hamilton Mountain. Of those five, four of them had only Season 3 (why season 3??), and one had none. I got season 1 at the new Blockbuster in Stoner Creek (are there more queers there than in downtown Hamilton? There are dozens in my building alone!), and I'm headed back there today to return it, I'll have to see if they have season 2.
