Hey guys!

So it looks like I'm going to be performing in Fort Saskatchewan on Canada Day ... and I'm nervous! It's still a month and a half away and now I'm just like, holy crap, why did I say yes?

I haven't played live for the last year ... good gracious ... and it's only 15 minutes (3 songs), but still, the nerves! the nerves!

Any other musicians get this way?

Yeah, I sometimes get crazy nervous....but usually only if I'm not 100% sure about what I'm doing. As in, I haven't practiced enough.
Just keep practicing and you'll to awesome!
I'm currently performing in a musical. Tonight is a big night, so I'm hoping everything will go smooth.

I have never performed live (not counting choir solos in my youth) for the very reason of nervousness. I've been personally invited to open mic nights, or to joining someone on stage at a show, and just can't do it. The closest I've been to *actually* performing was when Chris Jericho pulled me on stage and I death-metal-growled (at his request) through the chorus of AC/DC's "TNT" in front of 700-or-so people. But I was growling, I had no time to think about it, and it was 30 seconds of a well-known song.

So I'm sure you'll do MUCH better than I ever could in front of a crowd, and I hope you have an awesome time! Smiler

I hope so ... usually it takes a song or two for me to warm up and get over those jitters, but I'm only playing 3 songs. It's weird, too, because it's in my home town and the only time I've played in it was for a volunteer function and it was all 'older' people. There's probably going to be people I went to school with. I know, I know ... if they could do any better, they'd be up on the stage. But I'm just wondering about what to perform ... are people that judgemental? I guess it really doesn't matter ... they can think what they want to think. I'll just have some wine before I leave the house and I'll be good to go ... Smiler

Hey! I'd love to come see you! Got any details on entry fees or when it starts and such?

I've performed in P.A. on Canada Day before. Though, by the time I performed, I had waited about 4 hours beside the stage and had no more performance Jitters.

I guess just try to remember previous shows that went well. Get people to come listen to you practice. Gets you used to the feeling of an audience.

Yeah ... I play at home all the time. I even get nervous playing in front of my boyfriend sometimes. I've been practicing a lot lately! I think I know what I'm going to play ... I just have to rent a keyboard - might get one for the month and do a few open stages or something. So, for any of you Edmontonians or Fort Saskatchewanites ... I'll be playing at the Legacy Park Band Shell between 5:00 and 6:00. It's only 3 songs, but it would be nice to have fans there! Smiler

You know, I was born in Saskatchewan and have yet to be back. Unfortunately I'm not one of those musicians that have funding to actually travel to other places to perform. Not sure if I have the fanbase either. Frowner

But, I know there are some musicians out there that do get to travel to distant places to perform and if any of you ever come to the Edmonton area, I'd be glad to do a show with you! Just make sure I'm not sick ... that was just a bad, bad experience. But I won't go there.

Smiler

Lol, If I'm ever able to come out to Edmonton, I'll definately look into doing a show with you. ^^

And, hopefully, I'll be able to head out there next summer. I want to do a month long Western Canada Tour. I plan to record my first EP this summer and Fall and would love to be able to promote it all throughout Western Canada.
