I thought that this might be a nice friendly way for people to get to know a little more about their fellow posters!

I'm Tim and I hail from Australia. I'm 30, so am probably one of the older members here. I first heard about the Sleanster in May 1999 on the [i:9d77e74419]Every other Day Angels[/i:9d77e74419] mailing list. [b:9d77e74419]shrub[/b:9d77e74419] was praising Sarah's talents on the list one day and I was so inspired by his rantings that I bought a copy of her [i:9d77e74419]Universe EP[/i:9d77e74419] that very day. I've been a fan ever since! I've also been a long-time lurker on the [i:9d77e74419]Navy Soup[/i:9d77e74419] mailing list, which I also joined in May 1999. There are a handful of Aussie Slean fans around so hopefully they will join the new board and show that I'm not the only enlightened Aussie. Wink Oh, and I love music... what else can I say? Smiler

Now... lets hear about [i:9d77e74419]you[/i:9d77e74419]....

i hate doing these things as i always end up sounding like a personl ad, but here we go.
i'm sara (named after the bob dylan song). i'm 21 and currently am stuck going to university in nova scotia. i break free in april when i'll be moving across the country to cowcountry (read:alberta). i'm an absolute music fanatic and i have a severe weakness for female singers. i first heard of ms. slean when i was roughly 16-17 and was instantly hooked as soon as the first few notes of 'High' hit my ears. i had the pleasure of seeing and meeting her on the bluebird north songwriters tour a few years ago.
hmm. what else to ramble about....
i'm an english major so i'm basically just taking up space at my school Wink
i have far too many favorite bands/singers to name, so i'll just name the more important ones: sarah, charlotte martin, tegan and sara, kate bush, pj harvey, heather nova and tori amos.
that's me in my sig, along with my girlfriend.
'tis me in a nutshell. if you're painfully curious and want to know more, just ask

I thought I should jump on the bandwagon as well.

My name is Candace. I was born in Hamilton, Ontario, but moved to Norway this summer. I'm 20, hate University, and am a natural born slacker, but a natural born leader. I've been playing the piano since I was three but don't have much interest in it these days. I write, produce, edit, and design. I've travelled to many countries but still haven't found a place to call home.

If you're interested, here's a goofy pic of me.

I believe I started to listen to Sarah the summer I turned 16. I was searching for Radiohead songs and found her cover of Climing Up The Walls. I am a huge fan of Tori Amos and Imogen Heap, and Sarah, well... she's home. She can be delicate and I love it.

Jason here, hailing from St. John's, NL. 20 years old yesterday and doing computer programming at College of the North Atlantic. An ex-girlfriend introduced me to Sarah around when Night Bugs came out, and I quickly fell in love. Sadly I missed both of her concerts here previously, but don't intend to do so this time around (November 16th).

I'm usually found modding it up over at bluekaffee.com or wandering the city in search of adventure.

Here's random camwhore shot.

Well... Here I go.

I live in Regina, Saskatchewan (Canada) and i've lived in the province all my life since I'm only 16. I've been a fan of Sarah Slean since 2000/2001, I think. (I feel like someone admitting an addiction in front of a group of people--hehe.) I met her in 2002 and have a picture of us, somewhere. My friend has it but she moved to Ontario.

I first got into Sarah Slean from reading about her in a magazine. Well I think so. This is hard... I can't remember anything.

I've been musically inclined for half my life-8 years. I started out with playing the flute but abandoned it about 4 years ago and have played guitar ever since. I'm striving to learn piano and drums but I haven't had the money for equipment or even lessons yet.

I don't really know what to say. That about describes my life, sadly. I had a picture of myself posted as my avatar, but I've been having problems with it being able to work. Hopefully I can get it to work soon enough.

Hey, what's up. My name is Erik and I'm from Los Angeles. I've lived in Southern California all my life. I have travelled south, east, and west, but never made it up to Canada.

I play guitar, bass guitar, and piano.. well, I [i:d748166c0a]own[/i:d748166c0a] a guitar, a bass guitar, and a piano... and I touch them... and sound comes out.. and sometimes it sounds like music.. sometimes.

I first heard Sarah this year when I went to go see Rasputina in Anaheim. It was just Sarah and the piano that night and it was awesome. I don't think she needs a band or backup vocals, I like it pure and simple. Along those lines, I don't seem to share a whole lot of musical taste with anyone here, with the exception of liking Sarah. I'm more of a rock/metal than anything else, but I'm always willing to listen to new stuff (provided it isn't Creed... or maybe Hanson).

G'day

My username is my real name - a shock I'm sure. I'm a 21 year old currently doing a Russian/Political Science double major at MUN in St. John's. I try and play guitar when no one is listening.

Hmm I first found out about Sarah when Nightbugs was first released and I've been to six shows since. Everyone of them as good as the last and better.

oh and...
"i'm sara (named after the bob dylan song)."
very cool.

I wish my parents were hippies.

My parents just gave me this name that they thought suited me. And I ended-up telling them what it means.

heh... My name's Sherry anyways. It means "beloved" in Hebrew.

Hey all, I'm Paul.

I live in Winnipeg, MB and I'm 22. I'm a self-employed web designer and I also run a movie promotions/contest website (so if any of you live in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Boston, or New York City and want free movie passes, just let me know). I've also been singing for years (school choirs, etc.) and I supposed I'd be considered a singer-songwriter (though my guitar playing sucks and my piano playing is even worse). I've also lent my voice to various metal projects, none of which have taken off.

I'm generally more into metal (hence my name) but I actually like a very broad spectrum of music. I consider bands like Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Opeth, Bon Jovi, U2, Collective Soul, Amorphis, and Corrosion of Conformity, and artists like Sarah, Joseph Arthur, Ben Harper, Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., Michael W. Smith, and Hawksley Workman, among my favourites.

I was first introduced to Sarah right when "Night Bugs" came out. It was my last shift at HMV after 2 years of working there, and I noticed a play copy of her CD on the counter. I was able to get 2 or 3 tracks in before my shift ended, and I immediately came home and downloaded a couple more tracks of hers to see if I liked them. I bought tickets to her show in Winnipeg that was only a few nights later, going in essentially blind to most of her music. And I was blown away. I then picked up several of her CD's, saw her again as part of the Bluebird North songwriters' tour that I have now made into a yearly event for me, and she has become one of my all-time favourite musicians.

Hello. I'm Derek, age 18.

Born in Toronto, raised in Mississauga - currently in Professional Writing at York University. I'm an anti-social poet-geek. I also enjoy art (though I'm far more digitally inclined) and composing useless little baggage on the piano. Sweet Ones paved the way to my discovery of Sarah Slean, and I'm forever grateful that I happened to be watching MuchMoreMusic that day and time. Sarah has become one of my favourite musicians, and my favourite poet. In this troubled day and age, where Britney Spears feels safe to call herself an artist, I'm overjoyed to see people like her around.

hi. my name is Danielle. i was born in Dawson Creek, BC and the whole "wow! Dawson's Creek!!! did you see Joey and Pacey around?!" got really old reeeallly fast. i mostly grew up in Smithers, BC (but no one usually knows where that is) and now i'm living in Burnaby where i'm attending SFU as an English and Women's Studies major. generally i spend most of my time reading novels and listening to music. *high five to all the other introverts*

i first heard about Sarah from my roomate, Keegan (who i'm sure will start posting here sooner than later), around two years ago. mostly i fell in love with her music due to 'climbing up the walls' and 'i know' and i have yet to hear her new album. i have to get my ass into gear about that.

i look forward to getting to know a lot of you as most of the boards where i post i'm usually one of the only canadians. this will be a new fun thing, i hope.

first of, it's nice to meet all of you! you guys seems so instereting.
and speaking of Dawson's Creek, I discovered sarah through watching the show, I don't think i saw the episode but i was a fan of the show and i would go to their music section and just randomly go through artists that seems insteresting and somehow stumble upon Sarah! (and also Joseph Arthur and Wallflowers)
I go to school in Upstate New York and lives right outside of NYC. Currently a business major but who knows, it might change.
my other favorite artists hawksley workman, joseph arthur, ours, wallflowers, stage. I basically like artists that aren't afraid of stepping out of their boundaries and makes beautiful sounds. Smiler

Hello all,
glad to be here, I'm a rather new fan of Sarah's, I've only heard a few songs from her Nightbugs album, but the more I hear, the more I'm loving it.

Mike here, originally from Newfoundland (I see there are two other newfies here)
I go to Dal in Halifax and first heard of Sarah Slean on OZfm in Newfoundland with 'Sweet Ones' in early 2002. Absolutely loved it the first listen and although I didn't get the 'Night Bugs' Cd until a few weeks ago, I knew most of the songs and loved the CD. 'Weight' is awesome and 'Bank Accounts' is a GREAT GREAT GREAT SONG!!!!!!111111

A big fan of Chantal Kreviazuk, Martina Sorbara, Tegan and Sara, new to Melissa McClelland but her CD is the best one of 2004. Also like Alanis, David Usher, Jason Mraz and Sondre Lerche.
I'm not sure what else there is to say.

"And now I think I'll get through..."

Greetings,
My name is Cameron and I'm a rather new Sarah Fan aswell. Caught her in the summer of 2003 and was instantly hooked. Have seen her a couple of times since and have been always trying to keep an eye and ear open to what she is up to.

I'm in college in Toronto and head to shows from time to time. Like clubs and all sorts of music. I was a member over at the Night Bugs hotle and have seen some of you from elsewhere.

Jen, welcome and you should have mentioned you are an artist :!:
I like how you did My Funny Valentine. How did you come across Sarah? I do recommend Nightbugs. Good luck with your album.

Cameron Bay.

Hi all !

My name's Krystof. I'm a French person who decided to live in Montral ( QC ) two years ago.
I'm 24 and i'm still at school, studying computer programming, database management, network and so on.
I heard about Sarah on a Radiohead fan message board -I think it's NePasAvaler.net-. At that time -around 1998-, she did a [wonderful] cover of Climbing Up The Walls. This track appears on Universe. There were also two songs on her website: Twin Moon and Habit. Then, I bought Universe, Blue Parade, Sarah Slean ( the album, not our miss :P ), Night Bugs...
I went to one of her show for the first time last year in Montreal -January 2003, the weather was so cold !-, at the Cafe Campus.

My favorite songs are: "Me I'm A Thief", "Blue Parade", "Dark Room", "Twin Moon" and "Duncan".

I think that's all... Big Grin
