Hey guys,

I just realized that I've never formally introduced myself to this board! Oh well ... later's better than never!

My name is Kristilyn and I'm from Edmonton, Alberta. I'm a musician and I love all kinds of music and all instruments. I guess you could say that I have a lounge-rock vibe to my tunes (thepopguru can vouch for that - she was in my band for a while!). You can check out my music at either www.kristilynrobertson.com or at www.cdbaby.com/cd/kristilyn.
Here are a few things about me:

1. I used to be a poet. I even have a manuscript for a book, complete with artwork. One day I will get it published.

2. I love to sing.

3. I get inspired at the drop of a hat.

4. My piano is my best friend - and my favorite friend to talk to on rainy nights.

5. I love to shop for anything at hand - movies, CDs, books, shoes. Never ever take me to a bookstore and expect to come out before dark.

6. I am addicted to ghost stories and frequently pass over the webpage 'The Shadowlands' - if you
haven't yet, please check it out.

7. I have the memory of a walnut and quite often leave either the telephone or block of cheese in various pantrys and drawers in the kitchen.

8. Once I become a fan of something or someone, I have to have everything that they produce. Hence, my Tori Amos, Sarah Slean, Hawksley Workman, and Charlotte Martin collection. My pocketbook, however, would really like me to take on a new hobby.

9. I love with every part of my being and can get quite emotional. The more emotional I am with you - the more I love you.

10. I recently started a coin collection and, thus far, have about 5. Hey - at least it's a start.

I've been a fan of Sarah's since I bought Women and Songs 2 and actually listened all the way through to the end. I fell in love with her voice and went out and bought Universe and Blue Parade (and everything since then!). I've also turned many a friend onto Sarah's music and they've loved her too - check out my Sarah page at www.geocities.com/sarahslean_blueparade.
Anyway, glad to meet all of you!

Kristilyn Smiler

Hi thank you for being so welcoming and sweet.

I don't know what the Passioneers are but I will have to find out, but for now I'm sure I am interested in joining, what do I have to do?

Sounds like fun, anyways. I like you folk, you seem very cool

The Passioneers (theoretically) are a group of Slean fans who want to put together a band and open for Sarah on her upcoming tour Smiler
See the threads "What the heck is a passioneer?" and "who should open for Sarah?" for more details Big Grin

Hehe. I would love a harp. We could be the most eclectic collection of musicians since the Canadley group (right spiffylike??? )
lol
Sorry, inside joke.

Ok, that's cool. So I take it this band spans the provinces - nations probably (I'm not sure who all is in it - please introduce yourselves and tell me what you do!!) It will be hard to rehearse! But a really fun idea.... since Winnipeg is in the middle of the North American continent, I volunteer that we jam at my place.

(hope this works and just posts once! fingers crossed!!)

Karen, as Spiff points out, our merry band of "Passioneers" is still in the theortical stage. But growing more real by the day... Big Grin

The "thread" actually spans three different threads here on the board;

The first being a discussion of what a "Passioneer" actually is;

http://sarahslean.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=180

The second, a thread regarding potential opening acts for Sarah's scheduled headlining tour in March;

http://sarahslean.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=212

And the third, a random discussion about some Night Bugs songs that morphed into more "Passioneers" discussions;

http://sarahslean.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=215

Having said all that, I truly sense the creative energies of the group are so powerful that it might just become a reality.

As for who does what....I don't really think that it's been set in stone. I imagine that we would eventually all be well versed in all areas of The Passioneers.

I believe we have some guitars, a few pianos, a harp, some percussion, vocalists, and quite a few lyricists.

this idea rules. Well I'm always up for some jamming -- and if you play drums and live in winnipeg -- I'm so incredibly into jamming as a Passioneer, or if you would consider jamming with Querkus we would like that a lot. Got 2 guys who play with us sometimes but I really want one more. Hey, I was thinking of starting a thread for pianophiles all about all things piano. Would anyone like to discuss pianos with me? If so how do I start a thread?
