I have done some research... the print ad that ran before the on sale date and the current ad, as well as the poster, clearly states 19+.
Additionally, we expect comment from the promoter shortly. Cathy Hendrix Michael Dixon Management |

Okay folks, looks like we're having some effect, although not quite "success" yet.
I received a voice-mail and an offer to speak directly with the owner of Sonic Entertainment, the promoter of Sarah's show in St. John's. I'll be calling him directly on Friday to discuss things further, but here's the gist of his voice mail. 1. He's aware of the <19 age demographic of many of ss' fans and would much prefer to accomodate all, however, the "all ages" venues available in St. John's simply didn't match up with the open dates on Sarah's tour. 2. He doesn't "set" and therefore can't "change" the age restriction of the Delta Ballroom show, as these rules are all prescribed by provincial liquor legislation. 3. [b:aa93ceafbe][i:aa93ceafbe]HOWEVER[/i:aa93ceafbe][/b:aa93ceafbe], there is a provision to allow for a "roped off" All-Ages section at the show IF and only IF there is a guarantee of 40 "all-ages" ticket sales. Again, this is related to the provincial liquor legislation. 4. He also made mention of receiving harassing email from all over the country - this made me smile in one regard, as we've obviously had some success - HOWEVER, let's try to keep things civil and polite. He's seems quite cooperative, within the legal constraints he faces, and there's no benefit in pissing him off. So, there it is. Julie, get 39 other under-19 friends to purchase tickets and its a go. Otherwise, unfortunately, due to provincial liquor laws, there's not much else that can be done. I'll post tomorrow again on this after I've spoken with him, but I don't suspect much will change from the above. ...jim [i:53cc3dbc5d]there's good love out there, just you wait[/i:53cc3dbc5d] |

the "roped-off" section sounds like a wonderful little solution... but it is only a band-aid.
I mean... if you are going to charge the same amount of money for a ticket as someone else who is OVER 19 and be stuck in the nosebleed section... stuck behind a rope... I don't really see that as fair. Neither do I see the solution to this problem coming so late. This guy HAS to realize that it will be IMPOSSIBLE for there to be FORTY other under 19 year olds to purchase tickets to a show that has been promoted as over 19... and risk not getting enough under 19 year olds and have wasted both their time and money. I feel your pain Julie... but I do also see the promoter's side. His hands are tied, so to speak. ~ng |

Kim and I will definitely be going if this is possible. Kim is 17 and I am 18. - Wilson |

Unfortunately the latest update isn't very promising.
I've spoken with the promoter, well to be precise, exchanged voice-mails and e-mails with him. The only way he'll change the age restriction is to have a guarantee of 40 tickets sales to under 19 fans. The only way he'll accept "guarantee" is via names and credit card #'s. He will NOT offer any kind of refunds should the 40 ticket sales threshold not be reached. Sorry folks, but its looks like we've reached a dead-end vis-a-vis the promoter. But, it ain't over 'til its over. I've still got a couple of ideas up my sleeve and I'll keep y'all posted if and when I make some progress. ...jim [i:53cc3dbc5d]there's good love out there, just you wait[/i:53cc3dbc5d] |

So... he'll accept the roped-off area, provided those who are under 19 provide him with credit cards? And people with credit cards are, by definition, 18 and over. So, essentially, all the 18 year-olds in the province need to call him? lol

Exactly. I think one word captures it...."asshat"... ...jim [i:53cc3dbc5d]there's good love out there, just you wait[/i:53cc3dbc5d] |

Yeah, that's totally lame.
The Ballroom's not overly huge so a roped-off area probably wouldn't have the worst kind of view, but still. Lame. we all reject for pleasure. |
