I heart e-mail, and being asked out via e-mail is kinda fun, provided the person is clear about it (subtlety does NOT work in e-mail lol), but breaking up via e-mail = BAD.

soo... I bought a laptop last december. A wonderful machine by all appearances. In April, it died. While in Toronto this summer, they sent me a new hard drive. A few weeks later... it died again.

So, I called them and insisted the have a look at it. I sent it to them. They replaced the hard drive. again.

A few weeks later, I could see that it was starting to die again... so I called them. But, because I would be returning to Mexico, they couldn't guarantee they would have it ready.

So I waited until I got back to Mexico. It finally died a month ago. I took it in for service... They inform me that it is not the hardware, but that I need to bring them my software cds. fine.

I bring them the software cds and 2 days later when I call... they tell me the cds don't work and that they had to upload new software. In Spanish. AND... I have to pay $780 pesos (thats like $85.00 CAD) because software isn't covered in my warranty.

I get noticeably upset and tell them I shouldn't have to pay if I gave them my cds and I am certainly not paying if they didn't ask me first and then they randomly dump me with a system in SPANISH.

So I called to Acer and they were like... hmmm... that's strange. They shouldn't have done that. NO SHIT.

grr... now I have gotten the run-around looking for someone to solve this problem.

For those of you who were mocking me about my reluctance to have my computer fixed in Mexico... this is precisely why! grrr...

This is how I felt with Motorola.

A friend of a friend of mine had similar problems with MS Windows not being compatible with the ethernet card they had to install because their old one wasn't compatible in Sweden apparently. Who the fuck makes an ethernet card that ISN'T compatible with WINDOWS?!

The Becky actress is... strange... really not with it. Darlene is apparently on her own sitcom right now, and DJ is a bti of a struggling actor.

I really like Roseanne, although the Becky character really annoyed me. All she did was whine. John Goodman is one of my favourite actors, I just wish he would do better quality stuff rather than less than average sitcoms.

Agreed. I loved him in The Flintstones. But it seems that sitcoms are what he WANTS to do. Oh well.

I actually caught some of the Larry King interview (while simaltaneously watching an episode of Roseanne) and you were right, she does look amazing. I can't believe how much older the kids look. As for John Goodman, he's a great voice actor for animated movies.

The catholic school I went to for 8 years tried to ban Harry Potter on the basis that it promotes witchcraft. My cousin who is the librarian (and the biggest HP fan I know) said that if they banned Harry Potter than she would have to take out Snow White and all those stories too. I think the school board told her that the books that were already in the library could stay but they wouldn't pay for new Harry books. She ended up bringing her own copies in and using them in the library.

WOW. I think that deserves its own thread... perhaps a censorship thread. YES. OF COURSE it makes racist comments. DENYING our history, as unpleasant as it may have been, will only cause us to repeat it! I can't believe ANY Minister of Education would DO that. Ugh. I'm in complete shock right now. I read To Kill a Mockingbird in grade 9, and I'm no more of a racist now than I was before. If you are racist, then sure it might affirm your position, but if you're not (like most people are now brought up to be... or should be) then it only encourages you, and teaches you that intolerance is inacceptable. Especially in this book. UGH.
