Recently I have found my love again for this classic Sarah song "High". Firstly from the video stand point -- it's ingenious. I love the video beyond anything. I would say that "High" is my favourite Sarah video. I think it really encapsulates the "vibe" that I get from the music.

Whenever I hear this song I feel compelled to close my eyes and sing along to it. I press my hands together and just completely and utterly feel the music. The tone of her voice in the song is intoxicating! I love they way her voice sounds almost like velvet and just slides up to those higher notes and bounces. The piano part in the middle is... just bliss. I always start ohhhhing and ahhing in harmony with the piano while everything else is silent. Then her own "ohhing and ahhing" while she is singing the lyrics is breath taking.

This is just an amazing piece.

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `

Does anyone else have problems with this video on MapleMusic.com??? I can never watch it all the way through without the video locking, repeatedly.

This applies to all of Sarah's songs - they were made for singing along! Big Grin

High is definitely one of my favorites too though.

If you can find it, I highly recommend the Tory Cassis-sung version from the Mute Cute Girl show from many moons ago.

For those not familiar, Sarah got really sick before a show once and one of her good friends (I think) organized a bunch of special guests to sing for her instead. Sarah Harmer sang My Invitation, Dave Matheson did Habit and several other of Sarah's singing friends did tunes as well.

Oh how I wish I could have been there! Where did I leave my time machine...

I really love the song and the video has always impressed me. I agree with those who have said it's her best. Lucky Me and Sweet Ones were fun to watch but High was captivating.

Finally saw the video.
High really fits the time it was made. I watched it again yesterday for the first time in ages and it really brought me back. Nature, wonderful yet seemingly random female singer-songwriters with pianos, imagery like crazy, even solitariness... quite beautiful. I miss those days hehe. And I regret not having known Sarah's music at the time. *le sigh*

... I like nostalgia.

Is it bad that I didn't realize the bot was a bot and I was trying to figure out how the video was called back?
