I would like to see No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani do the remake of Sarah's "Sweet Ones" on her second solo CD or the next No Doubt CD. I'd always thought that Gwen would do a great remake of that song. If anyone sees Gwen or No Doubt in person, give Gwen the lyrics to Sarah's "Sweet Ones"! By the way, No Doubt's remake of Talk Talk's 1985 song "It's My Life" & Jessica Simpson's version of Berlin 1986 song "Take My Breath Away" lost out to Sheryl Crow's "The First Cut Is The Deepest" (also done by Cat Stevens in 1967 & Rod Stewart in 1976) for favorite song remake on the People's Choice Awards last night on CBS.

AHhhhhhhhhhhh no way! I have to disagree with a vengeance on that one!

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `

Several of my friends, when first introduced to sarah made reference to her sounding like Gwen. I thought it odd.

But... I did give considerable thought to the idea of Sarah being "Gwen Stefani meets Sarah Machlaughlin"

what do you think of that?

very interesting. personally, i don't really find Gwen to have a good singing voice. it always sounds like she's crying or whining when she sings. S. Slean on the other hand sounds nothing like that.

one of my friends also made a comparison of sarah's voice to the lead singer of the Cardigans (not sure of her name). it was his first time hearing Lucky Me. i guess that could've also been the song itself with the upbeat tempo.

Cheers.

Hmmm... when FORCED to comapre her to someone, I usually go with Gwen Stefani meets Amy Lee meets Tori Amos... but better.

Gwen should take it easy on the covers. She really did not do anything new with her part "if i was a rich girl".

Gwen is a sweetone but i can't imagine her doing a variation of the song that would work. maybe i lack the imagination but even ripping out the piano (painful), i can't hear any production that would fit.

that IandI much did with No Doubt still is fresh in mind. that was beautiful.

I just don't know if the tempo of Sweet Ones matches Gwen. When I play her singing it in my head it's either too fast or too slow...

I tend to agree with Cam....I don't think Stefani would do the song justice, but if she managed to come up with a more up-tempo, inventive cover of it, I'd certainly give it a listen.

How about Kate Bush doing a Slean cover, perhaps Drastic Measures?

And likewise, Sarah doing a Kate cover?

I think therein lies a more cosmic musical goddess connection.

I'd oddly enough love to see LE TIGRE or EISLEY do a cover of "Sweet Ones". I think it would be fantastical!

Gwen and Sarah's new singles were both released around the same time and I thought Sarah's new single was Gwen at first. But this was while I was at work and I heard it there and it's not entirely clear but yeah, I think they both sound kinda similar.

Whenever I hear "Lucky Me" on the radio with my friends, they always seem to think it's Gwen.

I'm not sure how well her voice would fit the song, but I love both Gwen and Sarah so I'd listen to a cover anyway.

Agree, LS, especially in light of Sarah's new found kick-rocker persona. Big Grin
