Who's excited for tonight?? Big Grin
I can't wait. For me, personally, it'll be my first time seeing her out of the Harbourfront Centre, so it's going to be a new experience! See you all tonight!

It was GREAT!!!!!
The opener Royal Wood was an excellent singer and performer.
Sarah sang straight for an hour and a half, there were 3 standing ovations and 2 encores.
The Rose is such a grat song I hope she releases it on her next record.
ALso, has she had operetic training? I forget which song it was but she just sings straight opera for about 2 minutes, the theatre was silent it was that beautiful.
Overall 10 out of five stars.

I enjoyed the quite varied style of performance Sarah and her band put on, and I absolutely loved the string section to pieces!

For me, the best parts of the show where when it was limited to just Sarah's voice, her piano, and the strings - pure musical heaven Big Grin

Took some pics, some of which came out ok hopefully. Will post a few once I finish going through them.

^When Another Midnight is the operatic song you mention. She has almost half dozen different live versions of this song but this one had one of the most outstanding displays of her voice. The way how she sang it with the mic rolling between her hands is the same way she did it on Day One but she really stretched this one and literally stomped it out. The only other song where she really displays that vocal range is Pie Jesu. She played it her first year of the Harbourfront Shows and on a few of the Solo and Intimate dates.

I thought it was a great show too. I heard that Royal was doing background work for her on the tour but didn't realize what a big role he was playing. The trio really did sound great. I think they were arranged differently since I last saw them as there seemed to be more electric guitar.

The quartet being added for tonight's show was a great surprise. Although they stayed up there for most the night they didn't join in on all the songs that have arrangements, ie The Rose. I love that version of Weight and was great to hear it live again. The stage seemed so alive for songs like Sound of Water and Parasol.

I thought the crowd was great and I enjoyed the venue. In the quiet parts of the songs entire packed place was silent. Know chatting or sounds beer bottles being cracked open.

Setlist:
California
Get Home
Eurphoria
Notes From the Underground

Some blurry photos of mine including a picture of the setlist that notes if played with Royal, String, and or Band.

Nice seeing you all again. Sorry if I missed anyone.

Definitely an amazing night. I think it might be my favourite performance of hers. Which is saying a lot, since my stomache was in pain for the majority of it.

I definitely really enjoyed When Another Midnight. Almost cried with No Place at All. Clearly California is a favourite of hers, and I love it in comparios to the album version, which I never listen to. Just in general, I loved the songs she picked and the arrangements with the band. Everybody was on top form last night. I enjoyed Royal Wood too - not enough to buy his album, but I thought his cover of the Oompa Loompah song was BRILLIANT.

I'm a little disappointed Sarah didn't come out to the lobby after, but I guess it is a much larger venue. It was nice seeing those of you that I did, however short of a meeting that was Smiler Just a fantastic show!

I loved Modern Man. Is that a cover she did or is that a bside?

Sarah did the arrangements for Modern Man. It was one of the tunes that didn't make the cut for The Baroness. The first time I believe she played it was her Harbourfront show this year. Maybe one day it will be released or reused.

The set list for Ottawa was similar, but she left out Modern Man! Looking forward to hearing that one =)

I bought all 3 of Royal Wood's CDs at the show; their styles complement one another fantastically. Great, great performer, with a sharp wit. He kept the audience laughing, even in between his "breakup songs."

Thanks for the pics, Cameron!

When the jar's all out of candy, don't come blaming me...

Hi Lady, I only took a few out of focus shots. Terence posted the great ones visible in this thread. Smiler

Seeing the first section of Modern Man is played on the strings, Sarah has only played it at her Toronto shows while joined by a quartet.
