Now a few notes on the show:

Sarah was by far the best that I have ever seen her, arresting and magnificent. The venue certainly helped, it is a former church converted to a concert hall.

Some memorable quotes:

"High heels and bras are such useless contraptions!" (Said as she threw her shoes to the side of the stage)

"Here at Camp Slean we endevor to keep things interesting. Sometimes that means taking a song, dragging it into the bathroom, stripping it naked and putting a new dress on it."

Before Sarah sang Euphoria:

"If I did a little less of this activity I wouldn't have to write songs like Get Home".

Leading up to The Rose: "Here is a song about death. In E major, light and refreshing"

I wish that I could have made it over to Vancouver to see the show there... Paris did Miss Slean a great deal of good as an artist


This is the first show I have seen since Night Bugs came out that did NOT include Sweet Ones.

Well, you must have been following her for quite a while. I'm a new fan, I only heard about her from a friend about 6 months ago. I've got a ways to go before I know all the songs as well as you!

All My Trials is really nice and glad she played it. The only time I have heard her cover it was for the Hillside 2005 taping played on CBC Fuse.

It is selling for $15, I picked it up last night. It is absolutely awesome, amazing poetry and well worth every penny.

Were cameras allowed at the venue?

Considering the somewhat lack of attendance in Victoria (I'd say about 250), Sarah's enthusiasm was stellar.

I recollect seeing a few camera flashes during the show. Maybe one of the photographers could post something? She was very easy on the eyes... and ears (as per usual).

Yes, I took my camera and took lots of photos, as well as a video of "Lucky Me". The key to not getting kicked out for taking photos (not that I think they would have during this particular show), is to turn off the damn flash. It's useless beyond about 5 feet anyway.

I did a quick head count from the balcony and there were about 215 people there. Not a great turnout. I'm sure they lost money on this particular show, even with the merchandise. It's too bad.

Yes, I have to wonder if anyone didn't get the notice that her show was moved back to Thurs night? That might have made some people miss the show. That and having the show on the same night as Queens of the Stone Age may have had an effect as well..

I'm not sure if they really would have lost anything money wise. The balcony wasn't supposed to be open, but they let people trickle up there anyhow. If they had all been down on the bottom it would have been pretty spot on for filling the venue.

The first show I saw her at was up island in Duncan, and wow was that absolutely terrible. Not on her part, of course, but there had to be only like 100 people at most in the theatre, so the place was pretty empty. On top of that, the crowd was absolutely horrible and had no enthusiasm whatsoever. I still feel somehow muddied by being in that audience.

But WOW was this another great show. I have been hoping for so long that she'd actually play in a venue like this, simply because her playing in a bar doesn't do the music justice, what with people yakking in the background. I was amazed that some people still shouted out requests at her...I always find that disrespectful, like they think the person is a dancing monkey or something.

I certainly hope she keeps up her pattern of regular returns to Victoria.
