The tour section ss.com has been updated to show Sarah is playing in NYC on March 11th.

http://tickets.publictheater.org/calendar/view.asp?id=5398

It's a bit of an early set starting at 7:30. One listing shows another act at 8:00 but on Joe's Pub site that act has been removed and Sarah has a 2 hour time slot.

This is also the date of the CD release. I haven't seen any word yet if the album is being released in the US.

That is probably the best venue in all of New York City, in my opinion. It breaks my heart that I can't go.

Hopefully there will be other shows on a weekend that I can make it to.

Do you think that this is where she's holding her CD release party? I'm just wondering why NYC? Definitely wish I could go though...

I'm wondering that too. Seeing that another band plays the later set, I have a feeling that the 'release party' might fall on a separate date.

No its not like that at Joe's Pub. They have more than one show per night. They are totally separate. The earlier shows are not "openers" for the later shows, and whether a performer has an early slot or a late slot has nothing to do with whether its considered a "headline" slot. They are all "headline" slots. When the early show is over, they throw everyone out, and start taking tickets for the later show. They are totally separate.

If anyone plans to go to this show, I highly recommend making "dinner" reservations to eat before the show. This will guarantee you a seat at a table, rather than having to stand at the crowded bar in the back. Make the earliest reservation you can, so that if you don't like your seat you can ask to be moved to one of the other empty tables. The minimum order for "dinner" is $15. Its totally worth it.

i did make the joe's pub show and though i wasn't blown away by either the performance or the new songs still enjoyed the set quite a bit -- it's always a good thing to see the slean, especially since it's been so long -- halloween 2005 -- since the last show i was able to get to!

the setlist cameron posted on littleslean is a little bit out of order. the correct order is below. all tracks are with the band unless noted.

california
duncan
notes from the underground
no place at all
please be good to me
lucky me (new version, no piano)
pilgrim (solo)
blue parade (solo)
goodnight trouble
get home
looking for someone
--
universe (solo)
parasol

at the risk of sounding like a jaded old fan (which i am most emphatically NOT), the real high point of the show strangely was "blue parade". that's strange since i actually prefer her with a band and i've always been one to like the new directions sarah goes. however, the performance of "blue parade" was stunningly sublime and the new songs, with the exception of "parasol", didn't really catch my ear. i dunno. they are lovely songs but don't have a lot of bite and just sort of rolled through my brain. i still haven't listened to the new album (bad woj!) so maybe that will help.

the set was unfortunately short, just breaking the hour mark, but that's pretty typical for joe's pub. they are quite emphatic about keeping the early show's duration abbreviated so they have time to clear the room for the late show but she could have gone another 10 minutes or so. perhaps they scared her into keeping it shorter than she had to -- it's been known to happen. such is the price of being the only club of its size left in town which brings in these sorts of performers.

finally, for the record, the band was david matheson on guitar, marc pizer on drums and joe phillips on bass.

woj,
Thanks for the correction. Notes from the Underground was the track that fell out of line.

I can't recall how long her set in Hamilton was. We were getting spoiled on the Solo and Intimate tour with sets that sometimes passed the 2hr mark.

It should be in May but that would leave a few month gap...
