I can't remember their view on cameras, but I think there's a pretty good chance they would disapprove of a larger camera with lenses. I wouldn't risk it.
The promoter/management agency that books the venue usually have the final say as far as camera policy goes. But having said that, 90% of venues will not allow dSLR's, and at times they will even scrutinize larger p&s cameras.
My policy is to never try to sneak in a camera. If they allow it then great! But if not, then I try to respect the rules of the venue (even when I think they're completely silly). Bringing a dSLR is fine, so long as you are parked nearby and prepared to return to your car (or leave it with coat check) if they're not allowed. In these cases, of course it's prudent to bring a smaller backup camera.
I find it ironic that most official artist websites/forums happily encourage people to send in their concert pictures, but at the same time enforce relatively strict camera policies at the shows themselves - bit of a contradiction there.
Most people who know a little bit about photography, using better cameras would actually benefit a show instead of detracting from it, as they would be more selective in the shots they take and NOT use the flash for the most part.
