watching etalk right now.

during the first couple of minutes they showed a clip of sarah on the red carpet. it was different from the live bit they showed during desperate house wives. sarah said something abouut just having some whiskey and the interview was like "okay!". I could be all wrong about that, that's just what i heard.

Overall - not a bad show, although like everyone else here I was disappointed that Sarah didn't win.

Hightlights

1. Sarah of course - one word "yummy" :P
2. Sarah presenting the songwriting award to Sexsmith
3. Fiest pulling it outta the fire.
4. Jann Arden's joke about 'danish pastries'

Lowlights

1. The Hip - WTF? dude, leave the poor mic stand alone.
2. Burton, you're a legend, but move your fat head outta the way when a beautiful woman is standing beside you.
3. k-os' performance - LOVE the man, but i was horribly disappointed with his performance.

I have to say that I'm both a Harmer and Slean fan and I think that there was an injustice last night when Sarah Slean didn't win. Day One was so fresh and new whereas All of Our Names sounds just like Sarah Harmer's first album! Poor Sarah!

The clip I saw of Sarah earlier is also on the Etalk page. (linked on the blog). She admits to having a shot of whiskey before the show to calm her nerves. I have read elsewhere about her having a glass of wine before shows, bc she's not sure what she will do out on stage.

Atalk daily on Toronto One showed the shortest of short red carpet clips of Sarah. Their question was how would you create a scandle at the Junos? Sarah was asked from the female interviewer, "Want to make out", Sarah responded "Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh" with a big grin.

Sarah Harmer's second solo album doesn't sound like the first to me at all. There is a totally different mood to the whole thing. Anyways...

"I must say that the Winnipeg collaboration at the end was much better than the one they did at the grammys..."

I fully agree. This one was actually very well done.

Have to agree with Jim in that I was disappointed with K-OS's performance.

I'll agree about the Hip too. Gord Downey(that's his name right?) is just plain weird. I've never been a big hip fan and he maybe why.

hahaha, that's funny. and hot.

yeah, i must also agree that i was not impressed with the Junos. the performances were definitely unimpressive. and when i realized Slean's category was Adult alt ALBUM of the year i was more convinced than ever that she deserved it. i wouldn't have felt as let down if it was for the artist in general. but i'm glad that sarah got a nice bag of free stuff out of it Smiler

Don't panic, I'll get the arc, you get the animals.

Hmm, maybe it's just me then. Cos I kinda liked the Hip's performance. But ya, SS should've won. I think she deserved it more. Then again, I maybe biased, even tho I am a fan of SH.

Cheers.

Haha. CTV/Sympatico actually mentioned that in the article

The interview link doesn't work for me

Anyone know precisely WHAT happened to Feist? I mean she pulled it off well but I'm like 'HUH!?'...

And ohhhh the Hip. I've never liked them (well, I liked Ahead by a Century... but that's it). I've seen them live a few times and frankly it's rather terrible. Someone mentioned to me after the show that they did three songs to which my response was "really? I thought that was just one long acid trip."... DOn't get me wrong, I think they're talented and all but they think way too much of themselves and 10 minutes of ranting nonsense is NOT music.

Parties were still going on in Winnipeg well into the morning. Alas, I could not get into any of the invite-only ones (EMI seemed to be the "happening" one it was absolutely ridiculous, even outside) and due to trying to, I missed an acoustic performance by Jacksoul at the one place I actually had a ticket to. :x

Oh well, my Saturday night was much more exciting and awesome, and though I didn't really have any celeb spottings (though I later read there were supposedly many celebs at the places I was at), I did finally get to see an Ian Thornley band live after around 5 previous occations where things came up or fell through trying to see Big Wreck or Thornley.

Sarah looked absolutely gorgeous on the red carpet. My sister was there, right beside the fence at the red carpet, but her camera's batteries were dying by the time Sarah came down the red carpet, so she had the camera turned off. She wasn't able to get the camera out in time to grab a good photo of her and was disappointed about that (my sister is also a big Slean fan).

I guess the Hip isn't a favoured topic around here huh. That's cool. I can't say I'm a big fan of their latest stuff or anything. But I always find their live performances very entertaining. Especially Gord Downie's ad-libs, those are often the best part, IMO.

Cheers.

metle, glad you and your saw got to see her.
i'm sure you will see some images (moving images?) soon. Smiler

sweetone, not sure what audio problem fiest had but the person she bent down to speak to was her techie. He just told her the show was live... Fiest then decided what she would do. that's accoding to etalk. even with the stoppage she played the song for 1.25 seconds... still shorter then when on vicki the day or so before.

hip had there moments. sometimes these arena shows are odd. i love the island stages, like the one fiest had.
