Just came across this tonight, it's an article about Chad VanGaalen but he talks about opening for Sarah at one show and meeting her at another one.

Here are the Slean related paragraphs:

[quote:16b02cff10]I was asked to open for Sarah Slean when she came to Edmonton back in November, but I didnt even know who Sarah Slean wasnot that many people do, but I guess shes had a fair bit of success in Canada. So I had no idea what I was getting into there, he explains. The show was at the Horowitz Theatre and I had to play for this crazy sit-down audience. It was a great venue but I wasnt prepared for it. I felt kind of awkward playing rock n roll music for people who were getting ready to feel inspired.

I didnt even actually meet her in Edmonton, he continues. I hooked up with some friends after my spot to play some frisbee and then, after that, I had to drive back down to Calgary to open for her the next day, so it was rushed. I did meet her at the show at the University in Calgary, but only for a couple seconds. She gave me all of the leftover Heinekens from her dressing room, and I was like Nice! I dont really have any idea who you are, but I really like you.

Honesting posting Smiler.
Odd that he didn't post about her music, not inspired?
Did sarah even mention him in her tour blog?

I think he was the one that people found cute out west? Yay for him getting beer. =p

From what I saw/heard, he didn't really seem to care that he was even there...maybe it's just his personality....

In Chad's defense (and no, I don't actually know him), I thought he put on a really good show. I half expected him to be like one of her opening acts that came to Edmonton (initials are S.J., but that's all I'm giving!), but he turned out to be very inspiring. And it's great when you see someone who can play the drum, banjo, harmonica, and sing at the same time.

So, yeah, personally I really liked him and, I'll admit, I bought a CD. And I'm enjoying that too. Smiler

My all-time favorite opener was Jorane, of course ...

http://www.cdbaby.com/all/kristilyn <-- these are my CDs. Smiler "This music is in the vein of Terami Hirsch (without the electrics), Sarah Slean (without the drunk-ish vocals) and perhaps, Tori Amos (without the nuts)." Amy Lotsberg, Collected Sounds.

I'm pretty sure you mean Jean Paul Maurice. He opened the Victoria and Vancouver shows and was quite popular Wink
