I've been a fan of this woman for the longest time and just thought a few of you slean-heads like moi would appreciate her as well. I just think it's nifty she's bringing the harp into to popular folk music. I dig that.

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `

It's in the link I gave Smiler There are 3 songs, if you scroll down you can listen to. "Bridges and Balloons", "Book of Right On" and "Sadie". Personally, I love "Book of Right On" the most of those songs. Plus they are the full mp3, not a cheesy clip.

Yeah.. her type of music is either something you love with a passion or hate it. As her voice can be pretty shattering at moments. You can order her cd at tons of places, but yeah..I haven't found any place to really download it.

i first heard "The Milk-Eyed Mender" around the start of the summer, and i think she's super good.

it's not very often you come across a 21-year-old (!) folky harper (harpist?) from San Francisco with a voice that sometimes sounds like she's a hyperactive 10-year-old girl from England Smiler

I love her music. I also really like Devendra Banhart, Vetiver, Vashti Bunyan, Karen Dalton, Jolie Holland, Will Oldham, and Bonnie Prince Billie. You may like them if you like Joanna.

Dig in the archives, folks... Slean mentions her in the Vitamins!

If you also haven't checked out Arvo Part's Fur Alina, DO IT TODAY. It's like what a stained-glass window in an empty church must sound like.

Jolie Holland and Joanna Newsom are marvelous and their music is gorgeous. If you haven't looked them up yet get on it!
