Okay fellow Passioneers - do whatever you can. Beg, borrow or steal. Whatever. If you get a chance to see Regina Spektor live, you MUST do it!

I just returned from her SOLD OUT show at the Rivoli and I am completely buzzed! Such an amazing show. She's so charismatic and charming, but with a modest streak similar to Sarah's.

It was just her and her piano - no backing band. What a incredibly passionate and powerful voice, especially when you're standing about 6 feet away from her.

Her recorded stuff, which I'm really enjoying, doesn't do her live performance justice. Methinks I've just seen someone who might actually be in Sarah's league. Big Grin

The other cool part of the story, was how I ended up getting into the show. I'd been meaning to pick up tickets from Rotate This for a week or so, but have been so busy at work, I just hadn't had the chance. But their website indicated it wasn't sold-out, so I figured I'd just get tickets at the door.

Well, I arrive only to find its completely sold out. However, I thought I'd wander in to see if I could wangle a last minute ticket.

Regina was just completing her sound check as I calmly strolled into the back room @ the Riv and watched. No one questioned me and when Regina was finished, she came over to the sound-board, where i was standing, and said hello. We chatted for a bit, she asked if I was staying for the show, and I then explained my horrible dilemma.

She smiled and said "no problem", and promptly put me on the guest list!

So, not only did I see a terrific show, but I was Regina's "guest". Which she pointed out to me at the Merch table post-show.

I told her to hurry back to Canada and left with a signed CD and t-shirt and a big silly smile on my face.

Big Grin Big Grin

Regina is amazing. I just bought Soviet Kitsch the other day and I can't stop listening to it. If you can, buy all 3 of her albums (and check out downloadable demos on her livejournal list at www.livejournal.com/communities/iheartregina/). There is also a ton of live tracks there. She will blow you away!
