Am I the last one to find out about this? Pardon me if there is already a thread on this. But I was on the Last Gang Records website and I saw that Emily has a new release coming out this fall.
has anyone ever heard of her solo album like in the 1990s? I forgot the name but it's pretty good. one of the song she has titled "carpet" became what is now known as "too little too late" in the recent metric album. the old version is so jazzy and mellow. i love it.
yeah, i was kind of disappointed by it too. so much that i didn't even buy it (yeah, shame on me, i downloaded a leak of the album).
a few of the songs are decent. i have a super early mix of "detective daughter," which i ADORE. it is incredibly spooky and atmospheric and moody. it is amazing. the mix on the album though... it sucks. i hate it and i hate knowing how brilliant it used to sound... and pretty much everybody else thinking that's how it's supposed to sound. argh.
all in all, though, i'm a bit put off by emily haines as a person. she's pissed me off a good few times now...
i was a bit disapointed too...they orginally made it sound like it would be more jazzy but it was really kind of a depressing album and I haven't given it much play....I wanted to like it but I just couldn't get into it.

Yeah I thought that was it! I was living at Dundas and Roncesvalles earlier this year, which is like right around the corner. Although you can never really tell cos all Zellers pretty much look the same anyway.
