Best performance in years I've seen on SNL.

Following their rockin' rendition of Vertigo and a second song (not sure of the title) with Bono at his plaintive best, SNL did something unprecedented, at least as far as I can remember.

Looked like they were wrapping up the show 10 minutes early, but then went back for a third time to U2 who blew the house down with a wailing performance of their early 80's and first big hit, "I Will Follow"....

Bono was climbing into the crowd, the place was going nuts, my windows were rattling and as the song wrapped up and the SNL credits rolled, Bono screams to the audience..."One more??"

He jumps back on stage, turns to the band....starts a "One, two, three..." as I'm yelling at the TV, "stay on the air, stay on the air"...

ACK! the screen goes black...and they transition to some god forsaken informercial!

What the hell were they thinking???

I'm sure the logistics of staying on the network, etc, etc, weren't easy...but they blew it.

Anyway, it was awesome while it lasted....

that was the first time i have watched SNL this year.

I love how Bono always grabs and interacts with the camera. the girl in the front row got a lap dance from him. it was a great performance although the creits were raining on them for most of I Will Follow.

At the end of the song Bono on the side stage said "only on Sataurday Night Live.... Live Live Live. One more"...

that cut to commercials was heart breaking, the return to classic Saturday NIght Live was a killer. I understand they had to cut it, but i hope it's not all lost.

I u2 trading community is an army. if the footage does get leaked, it will be likely posted.

That was exciting.
