Well, my favourite movie so far in my life is Garden State, which has an amazing soundtrack.
One band on it was the Shins, and I really enjoyed their tracks Caring is Creepy and New Slang.

Does anyone know much about this band?
Would you recomend their album?

They're a band that I should have got into years ago when I first started reading about them, but I heard one of their songs and it didn't really catch me.

But like most people who saw "Garden State", that movie made me think, "They don't sound all that bad," and coupled with their cover of "We Will Become Silhouettes" by the Postal Service, now I think they're pretty wicked.

Other than the 2 tracks on the GS soundtrack (which I really do like), I haven't *really* liked the other stuff I've heard from the Shins. I'm certainly open to giving them a fair shot, but wouldn't buy their CD unless I knew I would like most of the songs.

oh gosh. i love the shins. 'saint simon' gives me shivers. i think both 'oh, this inverted world' and 'chutes too narrow' are really super good.
