Well, for those of you who couldn't make it out, you missed a wonderful day...

Here's what happened from my point of view:

After arriving at our meeting spot a good half hour late because of traffic, lack of parking (which was to be expected), and general tardiness on my part, we took off to complete our mission to put up as many posters all around Toronto as we could in one afternoon.

It was cold, but not awful. Despite being totally unprepared for walking around the city for 5 hours straight, I was only mildly chilled - walking non-stop at a decent pace in order to cover as much ground as possible kept our blood flowing and helped our bodies survive the biting wind, which at times seemed like it was attempting to gnaw our ears and noses clean off.

Our group (YenC, Neal and I) covered most of U of T, Bloor St., Yonge St. and Church. We walked most of it, taking the subway once which was a nice break. We probably managed to cover our area with about 50ish posters (correct me if I'm wrong guys) in total. I'm hoping they stay up long enough so that people will see them.

I almost smashed through a glass window with the tape gun. That was exciting.

I also experienced a stapler malfunction after hastily trying to jam in the wrong sized staples. Thank goodness for the people at Home Hardware on Bloor.

We met up with the girls had dinner at Mr. Greenjeans in the Eaton Centre and I think I had the spiciest Veggie Burger in history.

My car was not tagged or towed even though my parking ticket expired hours before I got to it.

But what was most memorable for me was finally meeting fellow passioneers (if I can call myself that). After only a few months here on this board, it was nice to meet some of you in person, talk about all sorts of craziness, and be with people who wanted nothing more than to help Sarah in her path to greater success. I've found it difficult to meet people who share in my same passion for music, and specifically Sarah's, and it was genuinely awesome to be so warmly welcomed by a group of people who share my same passion.

At one point in the day, Neal mentioned that it was a great way of spending a Saturday afternoon. He was right - I don't think I would have rather been doing anything else.

So, despite the fact that I was tired, hung over, my feet felt like they were falling off, my hands were chapped and burning, and halfway through the day I stopped being able to feel my face, I had a great time. I hope that you guys had fun skating at Harbourfront, that the people afterwards were more receptive to you while you were handing out flyers, and that you met someone who you only knew as the little prince, that you can depend on to always be willing to fight the good fight, and provide you with more packing tape and free photocopying services than you'll ever need.

Thanks a million for a great day and welcoming me into your lovely little community.

Rob

Sorry for rambling. Red Faceops:

Thanks to Elizabeth and Neal for organizing this. Despite the cold, I had a good time and hopefully all these posters get more people to the shows. It was nice seeing everyone again and getting a chance to meet you Rob. It's always nice to put a face to a screen name.

If you need help putting up more posters, I'm up for it again sometime.

The posters are all in a file earlier in this thread, you can download it and print up as many as you'd like. We didn't go out to York Campus so that would be fabulous!

We also [i:87f7393f53]might[/i:87f7393f53] be doing a smaller follow up postering thing next weekend... If that happens it will for sure be posted in this thread Smiler

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and postered yesterday! It was a lot of walking in the cold and I just want you guys to know that it is REALLY appreciated! We covered so much area yesterday and had fun while we did and that wouldn't have been possible if people hadn't have come out. So thank you all!

ooh you all beat me to posting... I started off the day exhausted both physical and mentally, and ended it only physically exhausted... that good kind of physical exhaustion. I had been in town late Friday night at the Andy Kim show, and then met a friend for birthday drinks, getting home and to bed after 2ish. I had to be at a course in Toronto at 9 yesterday morning, which meant being up at 6 here (yes, on 4 hours of sleep) in Hamilton... I finished there, grabbed lunch, and met up with everyone (elizalavelle and flare being the two not mentioned in LP's post). Little Prince pretty well covered the middle part of the day, but the posters we got up were much closer to 80 or 90... each team had about 100 black and white posters and we had less than a dozen left at the end of the day... we also had a number of stores who posted them in their windows and bulletin boards, and held some flyers on their counters, etc for us.

Oh! And a highlight everyone's missed so far was when we were walking down Bloor St (in the Yorkville area)... all of a sudden I saw a ton of flashing camera lights and knew something was up. I heard someone mutter a very-famous person's name and lo and behold, right in front of us was Robin Williams! He was being incredibly polite and taking photos with people (I was shocked to see how many people just 'happened' to have cameras -- real cameras, not cell phones -- on them). We didn't bother him, as we were on a mission, and he looked like he was just trying to enjoy his afternoon shopping lol.

After our fun but insanely cold 5-hour postering spree, which was ended by some covert operations involving sneaking into Ryerson's locked building, we walked back past some of the posters we had put up to see (excitedly) that they were still up! Dinner at Mr. Greenjeans (which was SO warm compared to the outdoors! hehe), followed by skating at Harbourfront Centre (an activity I'd recommend to anyone if they have the chance to come into town a little earlier -- the rink is immediately adjacent to the theatre). Andrea made it all the way around a few times without falling, she was so brave Smiler. The flyering (which, for those who haven't figured it out, involved handing out small-size flyers promoting the Slean show -- her promoter heard about the posters and asked us to help out) was much better last night than Thursday, many people actually thanked us for letting them know about it. Then a few more posters went up near Harbourfront (despite non-sticky tape from the cold) and I rushed out to a club I was supposed to meet a friend at for his birthday (different friend)... he got there 20 minutes late but when he did arrive it was a great, but exhausting, night. I slept on the GO bus home, as well as a good 10 or 11 hours at home. My heart is full of joy from yesterday Smiler

PS -- growing_Wings -- I need to be at Seneca (Newnham (sp?) campus) on Tuesday afternoon... I won't have time to help put them up but I can probably get some posters from Elizabeth and meet you there with them if you want some to scatter around your campuses! PM me!

Didn't mean to not mention elizalavelle and flare! Big oops. I think I wrote that we met them up for dinner, but i didn't write who.

Wow. That was rude. Should have re-read it before posting. Sorry! Red Faceops:

And BoyWonder... we were actually thinking of inviting him to the show. Thought that would be pretty funny. But then he was long gone before we actually thought of it.

^ Haha. Sorry Id idn't mean to imply you'd been rude. Was just clarifying Smiler

And yeah we were thinking of maybe giving him a flyer. Or inviting him to the show somehow, but it was far too late by then lol.

Depostering might not be neccessary... I think posters tend to deposter themselves in T.O.
