here's a question that i'd love answered, if anyone knows. does anyone know "whatever happened to" sjanie mcinnes? i used to love listening to her sing with sarah, and i'd love to get in touch with her. if anyone knows please drop me an email... thanks.

well 1999-2001ish she was fairly active in the toronto music scene. She did some work with Mia Sheard and also did some arrangements for "Harmelodia" with the Rheostatics, and worked with Sarah & Cy Scobie (both with What? Management at the time).

She's been somewhat monumentalized (at least among slean fans) as the one who did that cover of Blue Parade. Not a pure cover though, as it was actually Sarah playing on piano... but anyway...

I find it interesting how complementary Sjanie's voice is to Sarah's.

I wonder what happened to her... perhaps she, like Noah Mintz, went underground and is homemaking.

Hmm. Whatever happened to Sarah McElcheran? I mean I know she's not touring w/ Sarah anymore, but anyone know what she IS doing???

Good find on the Andrew site BTW. I love him, and he's an incredible musician... I wonder if we could get him queer-eyed though. I mean his look is so... him... but I bet we could find him a suitable replacement for the plaid shirts :S

The last time I saw Sarah she was playing the trumpet and bass guitar in Gentlemen Reg's band (opening for Feist last june).

It appears that before sept 2004 these past slean members were playing with Royal Wood.
Adam Hay - Drums
Sarah McElcheran - trumpet/flugel (on occassion)
Kevin Fox - on album work

I don't think that was Adam we saw on drums playing with him a couple of weeks ago.

same goes for Dave Matheson.

Though never technically a slean band member, he was a good friend and helped her out at shows.

Dave was at the Royal Wood show I was at last summer... so perhaps he is providing the same help to Royal, if not indeed an actual band member.

He also did an excellent cover of Habit for the Mute Cute show.

Dave Matheson and Maury LaFoy also do a thursday night stint at the cbc--theyre the airfarce inhouse band! and great fun...although maury was supposed to tour recently with sarah harmer instead--but when i went to see her, he was replaced with John...sarah slean's former guitarist...oh, the incest of the toronto music scene--although here it is very much allowed, enjoyed, no harm done, and the products of which turn out quite nicely...i digress
