First. She's very....very...pretty. I like her music, and her video's. I'm hoping against hope. Sarah can copy Johnny Cash, and Korn,in doing covers of old songs. Just a mad production and singing session, producing some wild sounding song.

Well... if you consider Korns "Word Up" as an old song (not familiar with itmyself) then you'd probably like to know the covers she has done but not necessarily released:

Woodstock - Joni Mitchell
Wayfaring Stranger - ?
Radiohead - Climing up Walls, Bulletproof
Weezer - El Scorcho (one i've never heard myself but I'm told she did it)
Frank Sinatra - I'll Never Smile Again

I'm sure I'm forgetting some.. too early in the morning.

oh yah, and I don't think she should take any advice from Korn (no offense to your music taste) and plus.. Johnny Cash was about to take leave of this life when he did those covers so I think Sarah should hold off for a while.

I think Miss Slean should continue making her own beautiful originals. Nothing against your post, just not a huge fan of artists releasing covers.

and i don't know if you'd consider it a "cover," but she's done "edelweiss" from the sound of music at shows a lot too.

That's weird because a song on her new CD actually reminds me of that everytime I hear it!!!

Pretty indeed. According to this month's chart magagazine issue, Sarah is one of the 20 sexiest Canadian Muscians. The lady from Metric took the title which I thought was pretty cool as the girl just rocks.
Shania was not on the list nor Edwin.

Jack White did a cover of Wayfaring Stranger for the Cold Moutain soundtrack. The White Stripes sometimes do that song live. I like the way both Slean and Jack do it. Not sure of the tradional version.

When I first saw Slean, I thought Sweet Ones was a cover. I had heard the song before but didn't know who did it. :wink:

I hate the urge that everyone gets to compare new(er) artists to more established ones, in the name of familiarity.

But, to contradict myself, she really reminds me a lot of Tori Amos, while still being completely original, and amazing, in her own right.

There's a very theatrical quality to her voice, which I love.

It's one of those albums that alters your mood.. I feel much more introspective when I listen to her music.

Right now. I'm listening to GNR "Locomotive". It fits Sarah's song writting style. A real turn it up kind of feel. Like Rocky almost...Whoo !

Sarah has discribed the way she writes and plays based on vivid images and colours. Notes are tweaked so they represent those colours.
She also is a painter. "Music that Paints".

i love sarah's style of writing, and her voice is captavating!

I only bought her newest cd about two weeks ago, (and I love it by the way, blissful job) but ever since I've heard her I've thought of her as PJ Harvey meets Mazzy star sort of tone. Which leads me to believe that she should dtick to her own gorgeous tunes.

Not that a good Sarah Slean cover of something like tiny dancer would rock the boat.

That's awesome. I can see that when I'm listening to it. I always feel like I should be in Paris, in this dingy but artsy alley way apartment, drinking wine and painting when I'm listening to her music. Strange but true.

she has also created a different piano version of Our Lady Peace's [u:4ecf41e3a9]Julia[/u:4ecf41e3a9]. It sounds very different but it's absolutely beautiful.

this is not a cover...but k-os sampled sweet ones in one of his songs...forget the title, but she mentions it on her journal...
