Well... if you consider Korns "Word Up" as an old song (not familiar with itmyself) then you'd probably like to know the covers she has done but not necessarily released:
Woodstock - Joni Mitchell Wayfaring Stranger - ? Radiohead - Climing up Walls, Bulletproof Weezer - El Scorcho (one i've never heard myself but I'm told she did it) Frank Sinatra - I'll Never Smile Again I'm sure I'm forgetting some.. too early in the morning. oh yah, and I don't think she should take any advice from Korn (no offense to your music taste) and plus.. Johnny Cash was about to take leave of this life when he did those covers so I think Sarah should hold off for a while. I think Miss Slean should continue making her own beautiful originals. Nothing against your post, just not a huge fan of artists releasing covers. |

she's also covered weezer's butterfly.
and i don't know if you'd consider it a "cover," but she's done "edelweiss" from the sound of music at shows a lot too. |

Pretty indeed. According to this month's chart magagazine issue, Sarah is one of the 20 sexiest Canadian Muscians. The lady from Metric took the title which I thought was pretty cool as the girl just rocks.
Shania was not on the list nor Edwin. Jack White did a cover of Wayfaring Stranger for the Cold Moutain soundtrack. The White Stripes sometimes do that song live. I like the way both Slean and Jack do it. Not sure of the tradional version. When I first saw Slean, I thought Sweet Ones was a cover. I had heard the song before but didn't know who did it. Never thought of Korn being a band people do covers off. Maybe I have to listen to songs like "word up" songs that didn't make it as singles. I could see something happening with Cash. California is most excellent. Cameron Bay. |

I hate the urge that everyone gets to compare new(er) artists to more established ones, in the name of familiarity.
But, to contradict myself, she really reminds me a lot of Tori Amos, while still being completely original, and amazing, in her own right. There's a very theatrical quality to her voice, which I love. It's one of those albums that alters your mood.. I feel much more introspective when I listen to her music. fierce |

I thought her songs were like a painting. The way it sounds is like...it's the same as looking at a art gallery.
Right now. I'm listening to GNR "Locomotive". It fits Sarah's song writting style. A real turn it up kind of feel. Like Rocky almost...Whoo ! Read Sarah Slean's Blog's Lately ? |

[img:a798d0db53]http://www.oldschooljam.com/concert/osj6/Cameo.jpg[/img:a798d0db53] Korn merely covered it. I'm not sure what either artist has to do with our Sarah, but thats neither here nor there. ...recipe for cooking stew is unhygenic, and results in bad tasting stew ...chowder is better than his moonsock ...interest is no longer in the thick-mustachioed men |

I only bought her newest cd about two weeks ago, (and I love it by the way, blissful job) but ever since I've heard her I've thought of her as PJ Harvey meets Mazzy star sort of tone. Which leads me to believe that she should dtick to her own gorgeous tunes.
Not that a good Sarah Slean cover of something like tiny dancer would rock the boat. |

she has also created a different piano version of Our Lady Peace's [u:4ecf41e3a9]Julia[/u:4ecf41e3a9]. It sounds very different but it's absolutely beautiful.
And it's sometimes wise just to shut your eyes |

this is not a cover...but k-os sampled sweet ones in one of his songs...forget the title, but she mentions it on her journal...

i've heard climbing up the walls, but bulletproof too? i've just got to get my hands on a copy of this.. and we seem so good at making magic happen anyway |
