I know that quite a number of you have told various sarah stories, well I open up the board to any other untold gems that may be lurking. I do have an interesting tidbit to share, and would love to hear from others!

As some of you may or may not know, I hail from the surburban town that is Pickering, or as Sarah likes to refer to it...Snickering. My current boyfriend who also hails from the same god awful town, told me this story after he had converted me as a "Sleanster", and I could not believe it.

As it turns out, his mother and Sarah were friends very early in her career. (Around the time she made Universe) They were both members of SOCAN and met at various events. Well, my boyfriend's mother invited Sarah over to hear some of her songs. My other half tells the part of the story when he walked in as an awkward 14 year old to a beautiful girl sitting at the piano. She was playing "I Know" in his living room!!!

An interesting fact, the line "Little Bones will you break these legs like twigs now" actually was "chicken bones". His mother made the suggestion of little bones instead and is thus the version of "I Know" that we all know and love.

Later, my boyfriend's mother literally convinced Sarah to go to a Songwriter's showcase (which she was reluctant to) and it was that night where she got signed as an artist.

Amazing story isn't it? I thought all of you would enjoy that.

I don't know if it is so much a story.. as what can top Sarah singing in your living room?

This is more so just a funny comment I always laugh about. When I took a friend to one of her concerts.. you know how sarah gets when she dances, and when she speaks on stage yes? She can be a little wacky! ( I personally love it to death).. but anyways my friend was like "Is she like seriously into drugs? That woman has to be on something. Is she on something? Look at her go... is she all `there`?.. if you know what I mean?" lol.

As for experiences.. just the normal fan-ish like things. Bumping into her, talking, and then tripping and making an ass afterwards. The usual kind of thing haha.

and PT, my friends were the exact same when they first saw Sarah, they kept on saying "she has to be drunk, she has to be high .. or SOMETHING" ... but then they eventually realized that it's just Sarah Slean ....

The only cool Sarah story i have is when she did a shoutout to me and my parents during her set at the Hamilton show. and I am quite happy with my story!

Hmmm, the only interesting Sarah story I have is that I proposed to her in a bookstore. She was doing a cross country Indigo/Chapters tour and I popped the question when she was signing some of my stuff. She put her head down on the table and started to laugh. :lol: At least I got a little heart drawn next to one of her signatures. Needless to say I was on cloud nine the rest of the day.

I don't really have any interesting stories.
There was that time at the A&CC where she forgot the words to When Another Midnight and I called them out.
Hmmm, When I first met her she remembered me from an email I sent her, like, a year before that.
That was pretty cool.

There's a very slim chance that I'm related to her..
we both have relatives that are Taylors from Carbonear.
It'd be awesome if it turned out we are.
We'd be about.. 1 billionth cousins.

you know what? Sarah has a really good memory. She remembered my name too from an email i sent her almost 2 years ago when i saw her open for ron sexsmith last year.

granted my name is freaking Jarita lol, but still! she ain't stupid

ah, i want to share my story now! it's not [i:b69a8ce6ca]that[/i:b69a8ce6ca] interesting, but still.

i saw sarah play in guelph in 2002 (i think? i'm too lazy to go check) and i was lucky enough to be also reviewing the show for The Ontarion. i sat on the floor right in front of the stage to take the pictures. my legs were so numb afterwards, but it was great seeing sarah super up close. it was a tiny, tiny venue.

afterwards, i waited around and got to speak to sarah. i told her i was reviewing the show and she did this cute, "oh yikes!" reaction. i sorta gushed about how much i love her piano-playing. i told her my piano appreciation stems from my own musical education and that i've finished up to grade 10 conservatory piano and i still really suck. she was like, "no! you must be good!" she was so lovely and nice. she signed my night bugs and blue parade covers. she personalized the blue parade cover, though she spelled my name wrong (she spelled it "WINNIE," it's spelled "wini").

a couple weeks later, after the review ran in the paper and all that, i found out sarah was doing the indigo/chapters signing tour, so i came home that weekend and begged my parents to take me. it was a sunday afternoon, i believe.

i gave sarah the review i wrote - the actual page from the newspaper. she made a funny face, like, "oh my god, is that ME?" when she looked at the picture. she thanked me and (i think) she remembered me from the guelph show. oh yes, and i got my picture taken with her.

the only crappy part of the story is that the negatives of the photos i took were ruined when they were processed. i really wish i had had a digital camera back then!

I have a little story, but it belongs to a friend of mine. I'd like to share it anyway on her behalf.
Let's see if I can recall the conversation. Well, the video of Day One was brought up. It turns out that my friend's brother is good friends with Nelson Chan, the artist behind the creation of the video. According to my friend, Nelson wasn't commmissioned or anything to make the video. He just decided to make one after visiting my friend's brother. Because at that time, my friend had Sarah's album playing in their apartment, Nelson was thus introduced to her music.
And after completing the video, he delivered it to the proper people, only to get a phone call from none other than Sarah herself, expressing her awe and appreciation!! I believe they ended up meeting too, so that Sarah could thank him in person. And that was that. But wow, talk about yer [i:a0efb8c2f8]give and you shall receive[/i:a0efb8c2f8]. I dunno how totally accurate this story is, since I'm reiterating our conversation, but that's the gist of it.

hmmm... well I have an interesting story sort-of related...

About a year and a half ago (maybe 2 years now), I had a series of 2 guys and a girl who were using the old message board that insisted that I was Sarah Slean. 2 of them I was able to convince through a few pointed emails and excellent rationalization (ie: why would I make a website about myself?) that I was, indeed, my own different and unique person.

But one guy would not be convinced. He emailed me a few times as though I were Sarah, and even with the best rationale, he could not be told otherwise. Finally we came to a deadlock whereby he said something like "I understand you need to keep your privacy. I won't tell anyone." And I never heard from him again.

It was weird. WEIRD.
