2 summers ago a coworker/friend of mine heard me listening to yellowbelly and being the genius that he is on the guitar, picked mine up and started playing along to it. Being also quite lazy, he only scribbled a few notes on a piece of paper before he went home to Toronto (and only after I begged him relentless for 2 weeks to do even that much).
In my head I managed to figure out the basic riff and since then, I have taken to playing it softly to myself at night to practice my picking And oh it is such a pretty piece! Last night I got in a mood and decided to finally try officially tabbing it.
It's basically F#m, F#m, Asus2, Asus2 and Asus2* (which is still Asus2 but I needed to differentiate between them).
Please make corrections/adjustments! When Asus2* is played I am quite certain the picking changes slightly but I haven't cared enough to figure it out. When she sings "Michelle" it changes to Asus2 but played with the same picking arrangement as Asus2* (but only twice).
As for singing along, I haven't ever tried, but this is basically what it looks like:
[F#m] A veil of [F#m] strands of hair, [Asus2] so rare [Asus2] [F#m] Availed and stranded [F#m] there, [Asus2] nowhere [Asus2] [Asus2*]You speak to me of [Asus2*] fate We even set a [Asus2*] date [Asus2*]You speak to me of [Asus2*] fate We even set a [Asus2*] date
Could [Asus2*] not tell [Asus2] Michelle [Asus2]
And I never said, and you pretended not to hear I chose not to reveal, for fear You speak to me of dreams You speak to me of schemes You speak to me of dreams You speak to me of schemes And I fell Michelle.
[interlude]
We swim in sands of hope, relentless grey And what would Freud say? He'd say: "You speak to me of dreams, You speak to me of schemes, You speak to me of dreams, You speak to me of schemes" And I fell Michelle
