I almost introduced Sarah to my entire high school today. There's always music played in the morning before class and today (the last day of class... so my last chance) I begged the people in charge to play a Slean song (which was hard cuz they'd never heard of her). They said yes they would after they played "Clocks" by Coldplay. However, since there is only a 5 minute window for playing music and that song is just too darn long, it never got played Frowner That's my story. Thought I'd share.

I once tried introducing my Grade 11 French class to Tori Amos when it was R.A.I.N.N. day or week or something. I did a little spiel about the cause and how Tori was one of the founders or something.

I've gotten a lot of my friends onto Sarah, though! Girls and guys alike. She just seems to have that universal appeal. Smiler

Meanwhile, if anyone would like to get into my music (kind of like Sarah), we'll see if I have the same talent at promoting myself!

I've pretty much converted everyone I know :/
It's one of the first things that pop in my mind to do ha!

` I wanna be the bluebird singing
Singing to the roses in her yard
Roses in her yard her father grew for her
It's been raining like Tennessee honey
So long I got too heavy to fly
Ain't no bluebird ever gets too heavy to sing `

I am great at converting people to musicians! There's a singer here in Edmonton, Ann Vriend, who has a great jazzy voice and I've had a few friends ask about her. Charlotte Martin as well. I make little mix discs for friends of mine and put various "underground" artists on it and always get asked 'who is this person and how can I buy their CD?' Currently I'm working on Elly K. and Regina Spektor - great musicians!

Hey Dazed, keep trying! Thats a great idea...

I'm a grade 7 teacher and I've got my entire class listening to Sarah. Every day when they walk into class, she's playing quietly in the backgroud. Anytime when they are doing independent work, reading, doing art, I have something playing and its usually Sarah. I think kids work better when listening to music - I don't know if there is theory behind that, but I don't really care... They are really starting to like her, and there are a few who liked her even before being in my class. Its pretty amazing...

Some of the more musical kids are going to perform a couple of her songs for the talent show - we're gonna have a class band (a la school of rock) and she'll definately be heard by the entire school, staff and parents... I hope we do her justice.

And Kristilyn,

I'm just waiting for my copy of your CD (how long will it take?) - the second I get it, you'll be sure my kids will be exposed to it too!

Young people these days definately need to be exposed to good music... real music - and they love it. They can appreciate good music, better than we give them credit for.

Keep fighting the good fight and see some of ya in Peterborough!

That is so cool! I wish you had been my Grade 7 teacher... I'm now at university and have been quite busy converting fellow residents. I gave someone Day One to listen to earlier this evening and they've already decided to come to the concert next month here! Yay! I have a message on the way to someone else who I'm sure will be coming. I think my count is about 8 people since I found out about the concert 2 days ago! But I'm far from done.. muahahaha

I tried getting my students into her by introducing her in a lesson... it worked in a few cases, but I think 16 year old rich mexicans are less easily suaded...

some of you probably remember...

haha... who remembers my student who said "in the video she looks like she's been in drugs, with bizarre movements, but she's pretty hot, so that makes it up"

Gosh, here's to hoping... but thanks for the encouragement!

And I guess compared to 16 yr old rich mexicans, I've got it easy!

I tried to convert my university residence - I was asked to DJ a party last year, and I snuck some Sarah in where it would fit (I managed to only sneak "Lucky Me" in) but I did have a couple ask me about it... it went over pretty well.
