My favorite, though, is discovering when your friends are Sarah fans, and you didn't even know it. I brought a friend of mine to my room for the first time, and she saw my two signed CDs and drooled. Meanwhile, I was just thinking: "Since when do you know about Sarah Slean?!"

TOTALLY! I was visiting a friend at her cottage this summer along with another friend of hers and I learned that they'd been together to see Sarah in Montreal (where they were living last school year) twice already!

Sourburger you rock! I've actually lost track of the number of people who I've got into Sarah lately from residence. I just got another person to say they'd come to the concert coming up about 2 hours ago!! I'm kind of known as the Slean converter around here... haha but seriously people just need to be exposed, Sarah has done the rest. Soon my floor will all be Slean fans. That's my goal.

Haha thanks - you too, Politely_Dazed!
The other thing I do to recruit people is whenever I sit down at a piano, I end up playing either Eliot, Sweet Ones, or Duncan. (I've yet to learn the Day One songs, as I don't have access to a piano here at school) Inevitably, people ask me about the songs, and I usually end up lending out my CDs. |

University res... oh man... I got a lot of people into her that way.
Most of my introductions were at the post office on campus where I worked. I was known for my indie playing habits and had a few guys who would pop in once every week or so to see what I was playing. slean and lindi were most people's favourites. ~ng |

Haha, I tried to get her played at the store where I worked a couple years ago... alas, my manager had a very strict idea of what music should be played - we had about 6 CDs, and THAT WAS ALL. Oh man, did I get sick of Dido.
It reminded me of the "flare policy" from [i:374eb97922]Office Space[/i:374eb97922]. |

oohhh... that's terrible.
I had the closing shift so my boss was already gone home and so was the most of the campus. Soo... nobody cared. And that's TOTALLY a pre-requisite to marrying me. Don't like Sarah? SOL buddy. ~ng |

LOL. Agreed.
I'd certainly accept "I like her, and I might listen to her every once in a while, but I'm not a big fan"... so long as they'd be willing to accompany me to at least some of her concerts (and actually enjoy them) ~ If this is the car, that I must drive to the job, that I must keep for the house, and a man I don't love; count me out. ~ ~ Sweet hope is glowing in your glorious eyes ~ |

Unfortunately my boyfriend isn't a huge fan of Sarah (or a lot of my musical interests) but did accompany me to one of her shows and respects that I am a huge fan.

Haha the funniest thing happened today. It's kind of a long story so bear with me....
About three weeks ago my physics prof was assigning a finalized date for our midterm and he had proposed Nov. 18th or the 21st. There is a messageboard for discussion of the course on a website so people were taking a vote as to which was better for them (but it was supposed to be only about when you had other tests) . Well you see, I was super pumped for the Slean show the 20th plus most of us already had another midterm on the 21st so I protested and said that if he made it the 21st I would cry because I was going to see Sarah Slean the night before. Then I made a link to this site and told everyone they should check her out and come to the show.. no one really replied but the next day in class my prof mentiond that he had noticed some people in the class would cry if it was 21st and he didn't want any crying in his class so he made it the 18th. So now after the midterm, everyone thinks they failed and were discussing how hard it was on the messageboard and then my friend and I were like "ya it was really hard and kind of depressing but seeing Sarah Slean totally made up for it" And then we continued to discuss how amazing she is and did some more promotion of her work. So the best part of it all is that today in lecture my prof was saying he noticed peeople were upset and started talking about something my friend said about the midterm (which made us laugh because we knew it meant he read our Slean promos). He then asked if anyone had any comments or questions so I put up my hand and asked him if he had gone to the Slean website and listened to her music. He laughed and said no but that he definitely would sometime soon!! And that made me actually pay attention in class today. Oh and he doesn't really know who I am which is why it was so funny. |
