Hey All,
I don't know if this topic has already been brought up but I was wondering if everyone would like to share a sarah story. You could share your experience meeting her, your first sarah concert...whatever! Include pictures too!
Here's mine
Banff Concert
2002
I had been watching both pollstar.com and sarah's
website to see when she would make an appearance close
to my hometown. When I saw Banff listed, I jumped at
the chance and a couple weeks later a friend and I
were on our way. Our trip was badly planned, we were
going to sleep in the car overnight but when we got to
Banff it was snowing and we didn't want to risk it.
When the time came to find our seats, I was saddened that all the
seats near the stage were taken. We settled for some
seats futher back and waited. I was literally nervous
to see her presence. She was a tiny figure of red, not
because of our distance from the stage, but because of
her size. She was wearing a blue garland around her
neck and had placed a plastic rose from the bathroom
on her piano.
The beginning of the concert was amazing, just
watching music being made. I didn't know what to look
at, the horns, the piano, the amazing songstress in
front of me. During "sweet ones", a fellow fan, got up
to dance. It was only a matter of seconds before I was
standing, in awe, just inches from the stage. I
snapped picture after picture and danced like nobody
was watching. It was incredible. The fans were singing
in unision and at one point caused Sarah to anounce
that she had to go change her pants. The songs soon
ended and we were faced with the door.
I convinced my friend to stand with me outside the
dressing room and after a few minutes, timidly
knocked. We were welcomed in with open arms and found
ourselves sitting on a very green, very comfortable
couch, beside ms.slean. We talked about almost
everything, the music, the weather, even Harry Potter.
She signed my cd and even drew me a sketch and then,
with minimal prompting she convinced me to sing her a
song that I had written. After I was done, her and the
band agreed that I needed a band of my own. I was
grinning from ear to ear. We sat and talked longer,
drinking free beer and laughing like old friends.
Never once feeling nervous or intimidated. Alas, the
time came for us to go and we were ushered over to
merchandise table for free posters and we slowly and
sadly left the saloon into the snowy, sleepy, streets of Banff.
