at the Joe's Pub show in NYC she mentioned that her grandmother came to Canada on a boat from England. So I would say she's part English?

On the Internet Movie Database, her birthday is June 21, 1977 Pickering, Ontario Canada. There is also 2 pictures of Sarah at the Juno Awards preview wearing the red dress.

Matthew Clark made an interesting observation a while ago about the song Twin Moon and how Sarah was born on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer. I would never have thought of it myself.
